BANGKOK – A news reported that four Muslims in Pattani were shot dead by the mushrik soldiers of Thailand last Sunday (29/1/2012), for being suspected as “separatists”.
But the actual fact is that five Muslims have died as a result of the shooting, the youngest was 18 years of age and the oldest 70 years.
The mushrik soldiers claimed that those shot were carrying out attacks with arms from a truck, whereas the fact is that they (the Muslim) did not have any weapon and the weapons mentioned by the mushrik army is a lie, it was the mushrik soldiers who threw M16 onto their truck, so that it looks like the Muslims in the truck were conducting resistance and defense with weapons.
This act by the mushrik soldiers of Thailand is nothing new. They have killed Ulama's and Muslim teachers in the last decade, using the tactic which says that the Mujahideen are responsible in the killings. It is illogical for the Mujahideen to kill the Ulama's and Muslim teachers.
The killing have caused the anger of the Muslims and Human Rights groups in Thailand. Thailand's military officials refused to apologize for the incident, in fact they defended such kind of action, so the related news which says that mushrik military of Thailand apologized for the incident, is a lie.
The Ministry of Thailand apologized after the event causing the anger of the Muslims in the country, “If our officers are indeed guilty, they must face charges and apologized,” said the Deputy Prime Minister, Yuthasak Sasiprapha, a retired General, according to the Reuters report.
He added that compensation and justice will be given to the families of the victims. Of course the deliberate shooting cannot be paid back with just words of apology and compensation.
The Muslims are the minority in Thailand, only around 5% of the total population, where the religion of its majority population is Buddhism.
The Muslims in Thailand have long complained about the discrimination and injustice against them. They also want the education curriculum in the country which is Buddhist-centric to be replaced with Islamic curriculum.
Pattani, Yala and Narathiwat are the only Muslim majority provinces in Thailand and there were independent Muslim Sultanate there until finally they were annexed a century ago.
