Even the Dead...

.
ONE of the most oft-mentioned accusations against the Shari’ah is that it would harm humans rights. How wrong can be one be?

Those who are willing to do away with pre-conceived notions and suspicions, and to learn, would be pleasantly surprised to know that not one aspect of a person's life misses the protection that the Islamic Law or Shari’ah accords.

The rights of a human being – as the creation of Allah Ta’ala – are fully covered before he is born.

This is true, because Islam tells the Muslims to guard their chastity and to marry righteous people, thus to give an unborn child righteous parentage.

Further, his or her right to the protection of their lineage is protected because Islam tells the Muslims that a child cannot assume the name of somebody other than his or her father - and that is he or she is conceived within the wedlock. Another ruling applies when the child is born out of wedlock.

In fact, even after death people still have rights and they are protected by Islam. The following is an excerpt of a comprehensive booklet about human rights in Islam and the misconceptions surrounding the subject, called "Misconceptions on Human Rights in Islam" by Abdulrahman Al-Sheha.

Islam has clear rulings about human rights that are beyond any man-made chapters of human rights.

Basic Needs

Take peace and security, for instance.

Islam offers self security, family security and protection. Members of the Muslim society at large must not be frightened, or threatened by words, threats or weapons of all types. This is based on the Hadith of Allah’s Messenger (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him):

"Whosoever frightens a Believer (in this life) it will become incumbent on the Almighty Allah to make such a person insecure (and frightened) on the Day of Judgement" (At-Tabarani)

Food and decent sustenance are secured for people in an Islamic society by availing decent and suitable work opportunities for the work force in the society. As for the individuals who can no longer work due to old age, inability to work, chronic disease or the lack of bread-earner in the family, such individuals become entitled for public aid from the Islamic government.

Zakat represent a full mechanism of social integration among the various individuals of the Islamic society.

Then, there is the right to basic education for all.

In fact, education in the Islamic society is not a mere right for its individuals. It is rather a required duty from every capable person. All capable, intelligent and skilled individuals in the Islamic society are required to educate themselves religiously and in worldly affairs.

Proper and adequate health facilities are also a right. Equality is a right.

Islam removes all the impositions of barriers and classes among the members of the Islamic society in order to enable them to enjoy and practice their legitimate rights. No discrimination of any type is allowed in Islam. Lineage, colour, region or language must not give individuals any special class or status in the Islamic society.

Even after Death

In fact, we should point out here that the human rights according to Islam reflect continuous process that never ceases even after man’s death.

Man is entitled to be properly washed, or rather bathed gently, upon his death.

Man is also entitled to be wrapped in one, or a set of three to five, white, new, clean shrouds, and he is entitled to a funeral prayer to be offered as a farewell to his body and soul in this life.

Furthermore, after death, a deceased is further honoured with the following rights: the grave of a Muslim must not be dug up for no significant and honourable reason, nobody is allowed to sit on top of the grave of a Muslim and nobody has the right to walk over the grave of a Muslim deceased.

In fact, a Muslim is even entitled for the protection against gossip and ill memories after his death. This is based on the following Hadith of Allah’s Messenger (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him):
"(Only) mention the good things of your deceased and shun away from mentioning any defaming items (they were known with while alive)."

There are more rights for a Muslim as follows: when he dies, he is entitled to the prayers, supplications and charity donated on his behalf. A Muslim is also entitled for the full execution of his will and whatever he promised or pledged to do while alive, but could not fulfil it due to abrupt death.

This is based on the Hadith of Allah’s Messenger (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him):

"A man asked Allah’s Messenger (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), ‘Oh Prophet of Allah! My parents died. Is there anything I can do to please them and be good to them, even after their death?’ Allah’s Messenger replied immediately, ‘Yes. Pray for their souls. Honour their friends and be generous to them. Remain in touch and on good terms with their kin and kith, and fulfil their pledge of allegiance (which they committed themselves to do while they were alive)’."

In another hadith, Rasulullah Sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam said,
"The most beloved people to Allah are the most useful [or beneficial to others]. The most beloved actions to Allah Subhanahu wa Ta’ala is a pleasure you bring to [a broken hearted, suffering] Muslim, or to relieve such a sufferer from his suffering, or to pay his debt, or to dismiss his hunger [by offering him a decent meal to eat].

It is even better for me to walk with a Muslim brother to accomplish his need than to enter seclusion in a Masjid for an entire month.

Whosoever controls his anger [in this world] Allah I will cover his vices. Whosoever controls [suppresses] his anger, which he is capable of harming others with it, Allah Subhanahu wa Ta’ala will fill his heart with satisfaction [or happiness] on the Day of Judgement.

Whosoever walks to support the evidence of a Muslim brother [definitely] Allah Subhanahu wa Ta’ala will fasten his footsteps on the Day when footsteps are [very] flinching. Surely, evil character and behavior will spoil [or ruin] the [good deeds and pious actions] as vinegar spoils honey."

Measuring The Readiness Of The Revolution In Indonesia

.
Revolution in linguistics means a fundamental change. While politically, in essence is the fundamental change in a system by removing the system that has been obsolete and then replacing it with a new system. The revolutionary action that is currently getting more turbulent in the Arab peninsula is indeed a part of the sunnatullah (decisions of Allah).

That a despotic and authoritarian regime will not be in power all the time. When munkars, tyranny and various forms of violations against Islamic values are increasingly rampant in a territory of the Islamic ummah, then the promise of Allah will come to pass, that the ruling regime at that time will be replaced with a generation or other regime that loves Allah and Allah loves them, humble toward the believers, powerful against the disbelievers; they strive in the cause of Allah and do not fear the blame of a critic (Q.S. al-Maidah: 54).

This indicates that in every age and place, surely there will always be the rijalud da'wah, namely the strugglers who are consistent in calling on mankind towards the way of truth and pleasing to Allah. They struggle to restructure the state and its people till it becomes baldatun thayyibatun wa rabbun ghafur (a State that is good and full of forgiveness of Allah -ed). A prosperous country and its people are grateful for the blessings of Allah. A State that is far from the practices of injustice, corruption, misappropriation of trusts and other violations.

Surely, falsehood and denial will always appear. And this in essence is a signal from Allah so that we are consistent in conducting the amar makruf and nahi’anil munkar. We can not possibly see the world without the slightest evil, because this is also part of the sunnatullah. What becomes our duty as Muslims is to keep on resisting those falsehood. And it is for that we are born into this world.

In the context Indonesia, all the defects that continue to happen today, whether it be on the government or the society, it could be due to the efforts that we exerted to offset those munkars are still not as maximal as they could be, that consequently the evil continues to be the 'captain of the boat' of our nation. It should be that, the truth and falsehood should never be balanced. The truth must be dominating so that evil becomes constricted. There should be more segments of the Indonesian society that become the agents of change in society.

Rasulullah, in one of his hadith, reminded us about the evolution of the Islamic world, from his era to the emergence of the Islamic Caliphate based on the minhaj nabawi in the end times. This saheeh hadith narrated by Hudzaifah in full says; “The Prophethood will remain among you for as long as Allah wills, then Allah will lift it when He wishes to, then it will be the Khulafaur Rashidin on the method of the Prophethood (KHILAFAH ‘ALAA MINHAJIN NUBUWWAH), it will remain for as long as Allah wills, then Allah will lift it if He wishes, then it will be the kingdom that hold fast to Islam which will remain for as long as Allah wills, then He will lift it if he wishes, then it will be a dictator kings , and it will remain so for as long as Allah wills, then He will lift it if He wishes, then it will be a Khilafah on the method of the Prophethood (KHILAFAH ‘ALAA MINHAJIN NUBUWWAH), then he kept silent.” (HR Ahmad).

The era of prophethood is the most important period in the history of Islam because of the presence of Muhammad SAW who guided mankind towards the path of truth. The period of Khulafaur Rashidin is a time when the Islamic ummah are led by the just Caliphates based on the manhaj Nabawi. The era of the kingdom that hold fast to Islam is the period when the Islamic ummah are led by kings.

This period started since the formation of the Daulah (sovereignty) of the Bani Umaiyah in 41 H, Daulah Bani Abasiyah in 132 H to 656 H, then Islam was led by other daulahs. Then it is the period of the dictator kings, i.e. the period in which the Muslims are the majority but are ruled by despotic rulers who always oppress their subjects in all aspects of life. This is the time we are witnessing today.

Starting from the Arabian Peninsula up to various other regions including Indonesia, the Islamic ummah are lead by tyrannical leaders. Starting from the king of Tunisia who had just been toppled, king of Jordan, king of Saudi Arabia, king of Egypt, president of Tajikistan and others. Whereas, the last period is the period in which the Islamic Caliphate will reappear as promised by Allah SWT. This is the most anticipated period by the Muslims after the collapse of the Daulah Islamiyah of the Ottoman Empire in Turkey in 1924 which was the beginning of an era where Muslims wandered blindly like foam on the ocean.

From the wordings of the above hadith, yes, it was not explained that the turnover of periods from the despotic kings' leadership towards the Caliphate will take place in a revolutionary (rapid and profound) manner. But read the following hadith, we will capture a message that in the attempts to replace a regime that is despotic and that which did not apply the laws of Allah upon the Islamic ummah, a revolutionary manner could also be the alternative model of struggle for the Muslims to seize the power from the despotic kings.

The Prophet said, “Indeed, after me there will be the rulers of the country who are selfish and making policies that you do not like.” The Companions asked, “O Allah's Apostle, then what do you order us to do when coming across that occurrence?” He answered, “Fulfil your obligation and ask for your rights from Allah.” (HR.Muslim).

Thus, changes in a revolutionary way can occur anywhere in accordance with the conditions of the region. Even in Indonesia, of course if the prerequisites are already met.

The hadith is then also strengthened by the following verses of Allah; “Allah has promised those who have believed among you and done righteous deeds that He will surely grant them succession [to authority] upon the earth just as He granted it to those before them and that He will surely establish for them [therein] their religion which He has preferred for them and that He will surely substitute for them, after their fear, security, [for] they worship Me, not associating anything with Me. But whoever disbelieves after that - then those are the defiantly disobedient.” (QS. An-Nuur: 55).

Reading this verse, the promise of Allah is clearly expressed that at some point in time the light of Islam will definitely triumph. It is impossible for Allah to break His promise. Thereby, the question that we should ask ourselves is, where is our position at the time when Islam is in the efforts to attain the peak of its success?

We only have two choices, to become a part of the strugglers of the revival of Islam or to be on the side of the party that is against the light of Islam? In this situation we do not have a middle option. One group was promised paradise by Allah, while the other group was also promised a payoff by Allah, in the form of hell.

Therefore, as Muslims, it has become a duty for us to continue to improve ourselves to become a Rabbani (Godly) person with the Qur’ani character, who, with strong Iman always serve his Lord, able to suppress the carnal desires, temptations of wealth, throne and women.

The improvement of the selves is a very basic foundation for the establishment of a State and the welcoming the Islamic Caliphate that will surely come up in the end times. Then, building a family that is sakinah ma waddah wa rahmah (providing mutual Peace and Love & Compassion - ed). After that, building a community where the light of Islam glows from inside it. The community where the people are united on the rope of Islam, helping each other upon goodness and taqwa, practising the verses of their Lord and the hadiths of His Rasul.

After revamping these three segmentations, by itself we have made the effort to build the basic foundation of the Islamic Caliphate. After that, the community must choose leaders who fit the criteria of Islam, enhancing the skill in the various disciplines of science, economy, military and so forth.

Because it is not possible for a revolution, that is in accordance with the sunnatullah, to be realized if all the devices are not readied maturely. Even if forced, the results of the revolution are certainly not for the emergence of Islamic Caliphate.

The revolutions of Egypt and Tunisia, insha Allah, will give us the answer whether all the devices have already been prepared by the Islamic ummah there. Wallahu a’lam bissawab.

Inspiring Story Of A Revert NBA Player Who's Against Flag Salutation

.
The 12th March 1996 was as if a dark history in the career of Chris Wayne Jackson as a professional basketball player. On that date nearly fifteen years ago, Jackson got banned from playing in the National Basketball Association (NBA) matches. The penalty were given to Jackson because he was not willing to stand up when the national anthem of America, The Star Spangled Banner, was played just before the game started. He was playing for the Denver Nuggets at that time.

Jackson believed that it (standing up – ed.) was not a right thing to do, because according to him the United States flag is a symbol of oppression. He also said that the United States itself has a long history of tyranny and not in accordance with his faith as a Muslim.

Right away, Jackson's action which was considered controversial, drew protests from the public of the Country of Uncle Sam, which resulted in the ban from NBA matches. But the suspension lasted only one game. Two days later the ban was lifted. The NBA made a deal with the Afro-American basketball player. In accordance with the contents of the agreement, Jackson should still be standing when the national anthem was played, but he was allowed to bow his head and close his eyes. Abdul-Rauf said that at such times he prayed the do'a.

In an opportunity thirteen years later while giving a lecture in a masjid in Gulfport, Mississippi, Jackson emphatically revealed that such an attitude of his was an articulation from the religion that he professed in his daily life. ''I made use of the controversy as a tool to explain to others about my religion,'' he said.

Chris Wayne Jackson was born in Gulfport on 9th March 1969. He was an NBA basketball player in the 90's. In the past, Jackson was one of the most excellent point guards. He was born and raised in a family of Christian believers. He changed his name to Mahmoud Abdul-Rauf when he changed religion and embraced Islam in 1991.

"I had a lot of questions with my Christian background while growing up,'' Abdul-Rauf said. "I felt like I was being someone I wasn't meant to be.''

Before starting out in the NBA, Jackson played for the basketball team where he studied i.e. Louisiana State University (LSU). Jackson had a brilliant basketball career with this university basketball team. It was this that later drove the Denver Nuggets, one of the professional basketball teams in the NBA, to recruit him in 1990. Since then, his career as a professional basketball player began.

Abdul-Rauf could be regarded as the best player in this basketball club which is based in Denver, Colorado. He played for the Denver Nuggets team until the match season of 1995-1996. During the match season of 1992-1993, Abdul-Rauf won the title “The Most Improved Player Award”, an award given to the player who is considered as having shown better performance than the previous seasons. When playing for the Denver Nuggets, he had also topped the NBA spot in the category of 'the best percentage of free-throws in one season', for the year 1994 and 1996. He was having his best season in 1995-96, averaging 19.2 points and 6.8 assists per game, when his career changed forever after he stopped standing for the national anthem, saying it conflicted with his Muslim beliefs.

Although the ban to play in the NBA matches was finally revoked and replaced with a ban on playing in just one game, but no doubt he later became the most hated player in America. His basketball career in America was threatened. Evidently, not long after the American national anthem controversy, the Denver Nuggets terminated its contract with Abdul-Rauf. But Abdul Rauf was unmoved with that of his conviction and habit.

Leaving the NBA

After no longer playing for the Nuggets, he played for another NBA basketball team, the Sacramento Kings, before finally leaving the professional basketball competition in America for good. He played for Sacramento for only two seasons (1996 to 1998).

After leaving the NBA arena of competitions, Abdul-Rauf globe-trotted from one basketball club to another basketball club. He had played for a basketball club from Turkey, Fenerbahce, for one season(1998-1999). After that, he was absent from playing for one season, then he was playing basketball again with the Vancouver Grizzlies, a basketball club from Canada for one season 2000-2001. After his contract with the Vancouver Grizzlies was not renewed, he chose to pause from the basketball arena for two seasons (2001-2003).

In 2003, Abdul-Rauf got a contract with the Russian basketball team, the Ural Great Perm, for one season. After that, he then consecutively played for a basketball club from Italy, Sedima Roseto (2004-2005); the Greek basketball club, Aris Thessaloniki (2006-2007); the Saudi Arabian basketball club, Al-Ittihad (2008-2009); and the Japanese basketball club, Kyoto Hannaryz (2009-2010). Being abroad seems to suit him just fine.

"I feel like I could live anywhere, not necessarily in the States,'' Abdul-Rauf said. "I'm the type of person who could pick up his bags and go live anywhere and I'm not going to miss anything.''

His decision to leave the NBA basketball competition had brought major changes in the person of Mahmoud Abdul-Rauf. Slowly, he began to dabble in the activity of da'wah. He built a masjid in his hometown in Gulfport, Mississippi. In fact, he even became the imam of that masjid.

Abdul-Rauf hoped that the existence of the masjid would bring positive impacts on the younger generation in Gulfport which was known to be close to drugs and crimes. Thus, he often held events involving young people in Gulfport. ''Knowledge can make a slave becomes king,'' that is the advice often given by Abdul-Rauf to the Muslim youths in his neighbourhood.

In his every lecture, he also advised the young Muslim generation to uphold Islam wherever they are and seek knowledge as much as they can. ''We always look at education as a preparation for seeking employment for the sake of financial security. But we forget the main purpose of education which should be a provision for a person to survive in life,'' he said.

He compared Islam to the Western education which is based on secularism, separating the state from religion. According to him, education in Islam should cover all aspects of life. ''The Muslims cannot afford to put away his religion into the closet,'' Abdul-Rauf said.

Abdul-Rauf also described the results of studies conducted by some professors in the Harvard University and Yale University. The result of the study showed that African children have the talent of comprehending lessons faster. ''History proves that the African people and the Muslim were the inventors of the modern disciplines like algebra and many other sciences.'' he said.

And it was explained by that chairman of the presidium of MER-C that during the time of the conflict in Maluku, the Polri (National Police of Indonesia) and TNI (Military Forces of Indonesia) could not be relied upon. "The TNI and Polri were paralyzed at that time, and the TNI and Polri at that time were also involved in partiality ( Muslim TNI/Polri defended the Muslims and the Christians defended the red troops or kafir Christians)."

Doctor Jose added, "Firearms and ammunitions at the time it were very easy to get, they even can be obtained from the overhang of the stores, there were a lot of crimes against humanity going on in Maluku at that time."

Then the judge asked Dr. Jose, "Have you reported this to the government or National Commission for Human Rights or where so?", answered by Doctor Jose, "Already sir, but until this moment there has been no response from the relevant government."

The judge also asked Dr. Jose whether he knew about the incidents of Aceh, Dr. Jose answered that he knew that the training in Aceh was meant to send the Mujahideens to Gaza when Palestine was bombarded by Israel. Doctor Jose also told a little about the conditions in Gaza that would surely have angered Muslims everywhere.

The trial ended at 15.30 local time, and will be continued on 21/3/2011 with the agenda of still bringing defense witnesses.

Abdullah Sunata Disappointed With His Friends Who 'Succumbed' To The Densus
.
.
JAKARTA – Post the trial of Ustadz Abu Bakar Ba'asyir, Monday 14/3, which brought in witnesses through a teleconference, Abdullah Sunata gave a feedback about it which was a reflection from himself.

He explained, "Seeing the trial session of Ustadz Abu (Ba'asyir) today, I am increasingly disappointed with the attitude of my friends. Why got dissolved in the "conditioning" by them? Why succumbed to their wants? Why didn't my friends stand firm with attitude? Pity Ustadz Abu, may Allah strengthen him. The fitnah is getting bigger, my friends should have scraped off those fitnah with the right attitude."

He added, some time ago Khoirul Ghozali (arrested in Medan) made a nice statement to be followed by all the ikhwans, "He repented from the conditioning and from succumbing to their (the Densus's) wants."

"Sure there is sunnatullah that there will be a 'filtering' in the 'amal and dan trial, who is strong and who is not, may Allah strengthen us all and forgive us our sins, Ameen,"
Sunata ended.

Package Bomb Sent To Leader Of JIL, Ulil Abshar Abdalla

.
JAKARTA – A parcel bomb addressed to a prominent figure of the Jaringan Islam Liberal (JIL) or Liberal Islam Network, Ulil Absha Abdalla, exploded, seriously wounding three people, Tuesday (15/3/2011).

The bomb exploded at the Jakarta office of the group when localized by the Gegana Elite Team of the Metro Jaya Regional Police in the area of Utan Kayu, East Jakarta. At that time, the Squad Leader of the Criminal Investigation Bureau (of police), Police Commissioner Dodi Rahmawan, came to the site and tried to tweak and mess with the parcel.

It resulted in an explosion, severely wounding the Police Commissioner Dodi Rahmawan whose hands were blown off. Two other people were also seriously wounded.

“I was standing behind the policeman and his hands blew off” said witness Ole Chavannes.
“There was no bomb squad and the policeman was not wearing any protective equipment.”

Earlier, there was suspicion that the package was a bomb.

"True, there were reports of suspicion on an object resembling a bomb," said the Head of the Matraman District Police Police Commissioner Uyun Rafie as reported by the detik.com.

Uyun stated that in the beginning, the package for Ulil was received at 10.00 AM. When the officer checked it with the metal detector, the equipment gave out a sound which showed that there were metals in the package.

"That initially there was a consignment of books for Ulil at Utan Kayu, KBR 68 H, when checked with a metal detector, it sounded. It was suspected that there are metals inside it," Uyun said.

A second bomb was sent to the former head of Indonesia’s Densus 88 anti-terror police, General Gories Mere, earlier in the day.

The explosion was the first bomb attack in the Indonesian capital since the twin martyrdom bombings in July 2009 which killed eight people and wounded 50 at the Ritz Carlton and JW Marriott hotels.

Police were still struggling to identify the architects and their motives, but a letter accompanying the bomb suggested the attack had been carried out by a hardliner Muslim group according to the police. If so, it signals a new tactic in the targeting of liberals who opposed to Shari'ah, or Islamic law.

Sulaiman Azhar, Sender Of The Packet For Ulil

In addition to the package bomb fashioned as a book, there was also a piece of letter written by Dr. Sulaiman Azhar meant for Ulil Abshar Abdalla, it was reported that the author comes from Ciomas, Bogor.

To date, it is still not clear who Drs. Sulaiman Azhar is, is it true that he was the one who sent the packet for Ulil?

The following is the letter (transl.) for Ulil, written by Drs. Sulaiman Azhar as reported by the detik.com:

Why Are The Liberal Islam Network (JIL) So Bigheaded?

JAKARTA - Many parties still do not understand about the activities of the JIL, who likes to meddle with the peace of the Islamic ummah in Indonesia particularly. As the country with the largest Muslim population in the world, the Jews with the Freemasonry are supporting the JIL, which is also indeed funded by the Asia Foundation which is supported by the CIA, the American intelligence agency.

What is Liberal Islam and Why it is Called Liberal Islam?

“Liberal Islam” in essence is an insubordination of the self and thoughts through a foundation, movement, news agency or political movements against Islam which is in the way of Prophet Muhammad SAW. The ideology of Islam (they claim) suppresses personal freedoms and the liberation from the social-political structures that is oppressive. The objective of the JIL is to spread the ideas of liberal Islam, as extensively as they can, to the society with the support of the International Jews which is strongly entrenched in Indonesia, and the support of America through the Asia Foundation which is supported by the CIA, as well as the Western Imperialism, and is now controlling the Paramadina University and Islamic University of Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta.

The JIL is more akin to the continuation of the Western Imperialism on the Islamic world in which a form of justification is sought from the Islamic treasures. In terms of politics, there is a 'red thread' with the CIA. The JIL was officially present around March 2001— a significant impact arising from the birth of that warehouse of thinkings was the birth of the atmosphere of ‘stubbornness alias foolishness’ which is termed by most of its followers as “critical thinking”. They are so spirited in ‘criticizing’ the Qur’an, rejecting some nas (texts) of the saheeh hadith, as well as accusing the ulama’s as a conservative group. On the other hand, they are extremely busy embracing the liberal references. Their must-reads are: “Tahrirul Mar’ah” by Qasim Amin, “The Spirit of Islam” by Amir Ali, as well as “Al-Islam wa Ushul Al-Hukmi” which indeed is only a replica of the writing by an English Orientalist, Thomas W. Arnold.

Such names as, Sayid Ahmad Khand, Arkeun, Ali Abdul Razik, Charles Kuzman, Fatimah Marnissi, Nasir Hamid Abu Zaid and Fadzlurrahman, are as if having their new “holy books”, which are now embedded in their brains. At the same time, they started to appear lazy reviewing the Qur’an, perhaps even fed up (sickened, ed) when listening to the daleels from the hadith.

If we observe the agendas of the JIL carefully, we will find a correlation between the Western imperialism and the agendas of the JIL. Luthfi Asy-Syaukanie, one of the motors of the JIL, had once mentioned openly the four main agendas of the Liberal Islam. First, the agenda of politics, Second, the agenda of religious tolerance, Third, the agenda of women's emancipation, and Fourth, the agenda of freedom of expression.

In the agenda of politics, for example, the Muslims are “directed” by the JIL to believe in secularism, and reject the Islamic system of government (Khilafah). In the agenda of pluralism, this group urged that all religions are true, there can be no truth claiming. The agenda of women's emancipation is like levelling in absoluteness the roles or rights of men and women without exception, and the agenda of freedom of expression, like the right to have no religion, is not much different from the agenda of politics above. All these ideas in the end, at its downstream, go back to the ideology and interests of the imperialists.

Adian Husaini and Nuim Hidayat asserted: Therefore, it is very hard –or rather impossible-- to not say that the roots of those thoughts could not be found to be coming from the pure Islam itself, except after going through a 'defilement' of the texts of the Qur’an and Sunnah. For example, the theology of pluralism which considers all religions as true, in truth it comes from the outcomes of the The Vatican Church Council II (1963-1965) which revised the principles of extra ecclesium nulla salus (no salvation outside of Catholic) to become the inclusive-pluralist theology, which states that “there is possible salvation outside of Catholic.” ("Liberal Islam: The History, Conception And Its Deviation", by Adian Husaini and Nuim Hidayat – transl.).

Besides that, from the ideological framework, it can be stated in all probability that the ideas of the JIL themselves are the ideas of capitalism. Luthfi Asy-Syaukanie, in his book “The Faces Of Liberal Islam In Indonesia” (2002), has succeeded in presenting the descriptions and maps of the ideas of the JIL. If we analyze, the conclusion would be that there are many perfect copying from the ideology of capitalism.

Of course, there is the creativity and modification. Especially in the search for the verses or hadith or historical precedents, which would then be interpreted forcefully so that they fit in with capitalism. The main ideas of capitalism, among others are; (1) secularism, (2) democracy, and (3) freedom. From the support on secularism --particular experience of the West-- they appeared so hardworking in rejecting the Islamic system of government (khilafah), and very eager in rejecting the Shari'ah of Islam. But they easily accept all ideas of democracy without giving any critical reasoning. The phrase is, they right away become 'awake' (saucer-eyed) when criticizing Islam, but hurried blindly (pretend to not see) if those sources are coming from the West.

The denseness of the fundamental ideas of capitalism and its various derivatives, still coupled with a capitalistic method of thinking, i.e. by making the ideology of capitalism as the standard of thinking, by borrowing the words of Al-Jawi, the capitalist ideas are first accepted by way of 'taken for granted' or presumption and then believed as an absolute truth, without giving an opportunity to debate (ghair qabli li an-niqash) and without any chance to be changed (ghair qabli li at-taghyir). Then those ideas of capitalism are used as a way of looking at (and a judge!) to assess and judge Islam.

The JIL, Asia Foundation and CIA

The Asia Foundation is a giant NGO where the main headquarters is located in San Francisco. This NGO has 17 branch offices throughout Asia, plus an office in Washington D.C. In 2003, The Asia Foundation disbursed aid amounting to 44 millions USD and distributed 750 thousands books and educational materials in which the value ranges to reach 28 millions USD throughout the region of Asia.

As quoted by the official website of the American government, http://usinfo.state.gov, last October –a few days before the election in Afghanistan, The Asia Foundation, was making the program, The Mobile Theatre Project, a mobile cinema. On the pretext of democracy education—or more precisely, the campaign of coercing democracy— they went around villages to play the movies watched by around 430,000 viewers.

In Indonesia, in the 2004 general election, like what was claimed on their website http://www.asiafoundation.org/, this institution also participated in funding the JPPR (or Voter Education Network For The Masses) by employing 141,000 volunteers and conducting training of more or less 70 thousands people. They can make use of the radio with the assumption of having 25 millions listeners, and make use of the TV watched by 74 millions viewers, as well as controlling the print media with an estimated 3 million people who read it .

In Indonesia, its presence has existed since 1970. They stood behind the programs named; religious training, gender studies, Human Rights in Islam, civic education in Islamic institutions, Muslim Women Advocacy and issues of pluralism, in parallel with the programs of the JIL.

If we look at the variety of agendas and activities so far, there is a correlation between the agendas of the JIL and the Giant NGO called The Asia Foundation.

It can not be denied that the life of this group is very dependent on the flow of funds from The Asia Foundation. And because of the very large donation from this NGO, the JIL in a relatively short time has been able to establish the first satellite Radio in Indonesia, Radio 68H, where the broadcast is relayed by dozens of radio transmitters in Indonesia, they are also able to buy one full-page of the Jawa Pos newspaper, in fact they are even able to show ads with a long duration on TV, for example the ads of “The Colourful Islam”, which in the end stopped showing due to a subpoena from the MMI (Majelis Mujahideen of Indonesia), as a matter of fact they are able to support their activities which require large costs. If eyed from the main sponsor (read: The Asia Foundation) which all these while became the main “exponent” of the funding of the JIL, it can be concluded that The Asia Foundation is its 'chief' network. In other words, the JIL is the ‘employee’ of The Asia Foundation who serves on the ground to run their large projects.

The Asia Foundation is suspected of funding many activities in the framework of spreading the ideology of capitalism and the like. The most striking visible involvement of The Asia Foundation is how they have backed up the Team of Gender Mainstreaming (PUG) formed by the Religious Department, which later succeeded in preparing the draft called the Compilation of Islamic Laws, in which the contents later raised a controversy.

Referring to a working paper entitled “CIA's Hidden History in the Philippines” by Roland G. Simbulan, delivered at his lecture at the University of The Philipinnes (18 August 2000), and quoting from the writings of an American sociologist, James Petras, which was featured in the Journal of Contemporary Asia, it was illustrated of how a big NGO or corporate giant can be controlled --if not supported by the U.S. government-- by the secret agents or CIA who want to use it as a tool of camouflage. What was meant by Petras is, it is to 'draw the wool over the eyes' (to fool) and avoid the conflict that could arise from the direct collision with the formal structure of the government, as well as avoiding the class analysis on the existence colonialism and capitalist exploitation.

Roland G. Simbulan also explained that those who play the role of the CIA prominently are The Asia Foundation. This statement was considered as quite valid, because it was based on the statement of a member of the US State Department of Bureaucracy, William Blum. In a review of the book entitled “Asia Foundation, The Principal CIA's Front” and in one of the books by an investigative journalist of the Times magazine, Raymond Bonner, entitled: “Waltzing with a Dictator: The Marcoses and the Making of American Policy”, it was stated that “The Asia Foundation is an instrument and cover of the CIA!” This is strengthened by the interview of Roland G. Simbulan with an ex-CIA spy operating in Philippines in 1996, where as an agent he was actively using this foundation (The Asia Foundation). In fact, also openly disclosed in the annual report of The Asia Foundation, year 1985, was the statement by Victor Marchetti, one of the deputy heads of the CIA, that “The Asia Foundation was established by the CIA and until 1967 received subsidies from it.” (The Asia Foundation Annual Report, 1985).

It is clear that this NGO i.e. The Asia Foundation, is indeed the constituent of the CIA, established as a tool and medium to expand and ease the process of American imperialism on other Nations in the Asia Pacific regions, in a non-confrontational manner.

It is also from here that, in all probability, the JIL --when seen from the substance of the ideas that they carry, as well as from their partnership-- that indeed their activities have nothing to do with Islam, nor had they anything to do with the difference in methods of interpreting the nas, reform, enlightenment or critical attitude. The activities of the JIL are, once again –in all probability-- no other than the activities of foreign intelligence that want to to implant the nails of imperialism in the lands of the Islamic ummah generally, and in Indonesia specifically.

Wallahu a’lam.

The Savagery Of The Densus 88

.

Assalamualaikum wr.wb.

All praises belong to Allah Rabbul Alamin, only Him we praise and only to Him we plead. Salawat and salam be upon our ideal the supreme commander of the Islamic ummah, the best human, Muhammad SallAllahu alaihi wa sallam, and the Sahabahs, the tabi'in, as well as the people who always hold fast in living the Kitabullah and Sunnah of Rasulullah SallAllahu alaihi wa sallam.

"And [remember, O Muhammad], when those who disbelieved plotted against you to restrain you or kill you or evict you [from Makkah]. But they plan, and Allah plans. And Allah is the best of planners." (QS. 8:30)

Cases of Terrorism once again cropped up by the middle of 2009 until the end of 2010. The arrests and raids conducted by the Densus 88 were always used as a diversionary issue in the midst of the discovery of the failure (read: degradation) of the government.

The process of investigation and probe on the terrorism suspects executed by the Anti terror Detasemen Khusus (Special Detachment) 88, where violation against the Human Rights is very likely, often escapes the attention of the public, this is because of the lack of access to the families, legal advisors, as well as the media given by the police to the suspects of the crime of terrorism.

The process of detention, that takes 7 X 24 hours to make a presumed terrorist become a suspect, such as those regulated in the UU (Law) no. 15 year 2003 re. Terrorism, has become an open secret that it has been made as an arena of torture used to force terrorism suspects to admit the actions charged on them; but all this time, may be due to pressure from the police, this has never appeared in both the print and electronic media.

Affirmations about the existence of torture had been expressed by Muhamamd Jibriel who was accused as being the financier of the Hotels JW Marriott and Ritz-Carlton bombings, at the hearing in the District Court of South Jakarta some time ago. The truth about the existence of torture had also been revealed by Brother Abdul Hamid which he endured at the time of his investigation process resulting in permanent disability in the spine which caused him to be carried by 2 persons if he wants to go anywhere.

Abdul Hamid is a terrorist suspect accused of recruiting Abdurrochim, a student of a private university in the city of Solo, to upload a video showing the military training in Aceh. He is also alleged to have bought a gun from Handzolah who was also arrested along with him. Abdul Hamid was arrested, at the time when he was heading to a market, by being run over in the middle of the road by the members of Densus 88, the anti-terror division of the national police.

After that he was brought to one of the hotels in the district of Jogja. There he suffered a very cruel torture every day to the extent that he had passed out several times on account of the hardness of the torture executed against him. After having been tortured for 7 days in marathon, he was taken to the Police Headquarters of Jakarta to undergo the trial process.

It is hoped that this writing would open the eyes of all parties that the handling of the terrorism cases are full of Human Rights violations and it is hoped that the concerned parties would play their active roles in overseeing the works of the police, especially the Densus 88.

At the time of this writing, he was awaiting trial which came close to the agenda of seeking indictment.

The International Khilafah Conference 2011 : Towards The Domination Of Islam Over The World!

.
JakartaAlhamdulillah, the International Khilafah Conference 2011 organized by the Sharia4Indonesia, Thursday (10/3/2011), ran smoothly and successfully. The attendees who filled in the Orchid Hall, Level 2, Istora Senayan, since 7 pm did not get up to leave until the event was finished. A first step towards Islam's domination over the world. Insha Allah!

Sheikh Anjem Choudary : Indonesia Must Implement Islamic Shari'ah

Sheikh Anjem Choudary, an activist from Islam4UK, became the first speaker in the International Khilafah Conference 2011. Live through the skype connection, Sheikh Anjem Choudary explained, for 30 minutes, the manhaj and preparations to welcome the coming of the Khilafah Islamiyah. According to him, da'wah and jihad are the the main pillars that can not be separated in welcoming the Khilafah Islamiyah. As for the models in conducting the da'wah we must return to (the way of) Rasulullah SAW.

Today, according to him, there is not even one country that has implemented the Islamic Shari'ah perfectly, including Indonesia. Due to that, the Muslims in Indonesia are obligated to conduct da'wah and jihad in order to carry out the commands of Allah SWT, i.e. to be regulated with the regulations of Allah SWT only.

The People's Resistance Exclusive To Islam

The second speaker in the International Khilafah Conference 2011 was Ustadz Luqman Hakim, Lc. This Ustadz who owned the blog elhakimi, in the beginning of his presentation explored the sense and meaning that are contained in the QS 24 : 55, as a footing of the promise for the victory of Islam. According to him, the Islamic ummah, besides the need to campaign for the firm belief on the establishment of the system of governance with the manhaj of prophethood (Khilafah) in the end times, must also tell the risks of resistance. Meaning, there must be a balance between the firm belief on the promises of victory and the patience over the entire risk of the struggle.

Meanwhile, Munarman SH. was the third speaker in the International Khilafah Conference 2011. Munarman in his presentation also believes in the return of the Khilafah Islamiyah, whether in the belief that the Khilafah will appear first or that the Khilafah will appear together with the declaration of the emergence of Imam Mahdi. Munarman suggests that we should not be just stuck with the promise in which the the arrival is already certain, but must also tangibly take actions in preparing for it. Munarman himself today has been made as a figure of 'resistance' against the despotic rule!

The discussion was rounded with the the full confidence on the return of the Khilafah Islamiyah that will implement the entire system of Islamic Shari'ah, including in Indonesia. For that, what is needed now is an ideology of global resistance which must be accompanied with education on the ummah, to be patient and ready to bear the risks of resistance. Allahu Akbar!

Synergism Toward Islam's Domination Over The Whole World

The International Khilafah Conference 2011 was getting more interesting with the involvement from the participants. The enthusiasm on the participants could be seen from the questions which of course could not be answered in their entirety, given the limited time.

A questioner, Sulaiman, from Bandung asked about the situation if there are two imams or khalifahs at the same time. Another questioner, Syahrul questioned about the advent of Imam Mahdi in the end times and the disputes between the Sunni and Shiah. Alhamdulillah, all those questions were completely answered by Sheikh Anjem Choudary, Ustadz Luqman and Munarman. The discussion as a whole, i.e both the speakers and audiences, agreed and believed on the promise of Allah SWT and His Rasul, that the Khilafah Islamiyah will return in the end times. That's when the world as a whole will be governed by Islamic Shari'ah which will bring prosperity and the rahmah (mercy) of Islam will encompass the whole world. This is the true meaning of Izharuddien or also known as "the domination of Islam over the whole world!"

At the end of the event, Ustadz Reza from the Sharia4Indonesia read the press statement while all at once closing the ceremony which Alhamdulillah was smooth and successful. Synergism amongst the Muslims became the keyword, as well as the closing remarks to start the next works and actions in greeting the return of the Khilafah Islamiyah. May it happen!

Hiding Realities

.
We think we have believed. We think we are protected from the worst fate: disbelief. Because we have called ourselves Muslims, then we must be believers, right?

According to Ibn Kathir, there are people who may have declared themselves Muslims but still commit disbelief. The following is taken from Tafseer Ibn Kathir:

The Qur'an uses the word Kufr to denote people who cover up or hide realities. The Qur'an uses this word to identify those who denied Allah's favours by not accepting His Dominion and Authority.

Kufr thus is an antonym for Iman or disbelief in Allah and a Kafir is a nonbeliever.

This type of Kufr is called Al-Kufr al-Akbar or major Kufr.

There are many types of Al-Kufr ul Akbar:

1. Kufrul-‘Inad: Disbelief out of stubbornness. This applies to someone who knows the truth and admits to knowing the truth and admits to knowing it with his tongue, but refuses to accept it and refrains from making a declaration. Allah Subhanahu wa Ta’ala says: Throw into Hell every stubborn disbeliever... (Surah Qaf: 24)

2. Kufrul-Inkar: Disbelief out of denial. This applies to someone who denies with both heart and tongue. Allah Subhanahu wa Ta’ala says: They recognise the favours of Allah, yet they deny them. Most of them are disbelievers. (Surah an-Nahl: 83)

3. Kufrul-Kibr: Disbelief out of arrogance and pride. The disbelief by the devils (Iblis) is an example of this type of Kufr.

4. Kufrul-Juhud: Disbelief out of rejection. This applies to someone who acknowledges the truth in his heart, but rejects it with his tongue. They call themselves Muslims but reject any necessary and accepted norms of Islam such as Solat and Zakat.

5. Kufrul-Nifaq: Disbelief out of hypocrisy. This applies to someone who pretends to be a believer but conceals his disbelief. Such a person is called a munafiq or hypocrite.

6. Kufrul-Istihal: Disbelief out of trying to make haram into halal.

7. Kufrul-Kurh: Disbelief out of detesting any of Allah’s Subhanahu wa Ta’ala commands.

8. Kufrul-Istihzaha: Disbelief due to mockery and derision.

9. Kufrul-Iradh: Disbelief due to avoidance. This applies to those who turn away and avoid the truth. Allah Subhanahu wa Ta’ala says: And who is more unjust than he who is reminded of his Lords signs but then turns away from them. (Surah Al-Kahfi: 57)

10. Kufrul-Istibdal: Disbelief because of trying to substitute Allah’s Laws.

Subhanallah, Arif Uka Shot Dead Kafir American Troops After Those Beasts Raped A Muslimah

.
FRANKFURT – The German citizen of a Kosovite descent, Arif Uka (21), who launched an attack on a bus which carried American military personnels, where two kafir American soldiers were killed and 12 others seriously injured, at the Frankfurt Airport, said that he attacked the bus containing the soldiers after he watched on the internet a video that shows the American Crusader forces in Afghanistan attacking civilian houses and raping a young girl.

Besides that, Arif had also heard how the American forces humiliated an Afghan Muslimah at the Frankfurt Airport.

Thus, it was the brutal rape of a small Muslimah which eventually led a Islamic youth to take the decision to kill American soldiers sent to Afghanistan to participate in hostilities against Afghanistan.

According to Arif Uka, he is a Muslim, and before firing, he shouted aloud, "Allahu Akbar!" six or seven times.

Like what was said by Uka, he bought a pistol and 24 cartridges a few months ago costing 1,000 sterling pounds.

Arif Uka, who spent most of his life in Frankfurt, acted alone, without any command or directive from any group.

American Genocide Continues In Helmand: 52 Civilians Martyred

In the past week Mar. 08 – Locals from Sangin district, which is located 70 km south of the provincial capital Lashkargah city say that since the day the American terrorists took control of the district from British invaders, their genocidal operation have caused the civilians many problems including the Martyrdom of 52 civilians in the past week alone and these barbaric operations have forced the people to completely abandon almost all of the villages. A local by the name the name of Maulavi Hidayatullah says that nearly all the villages in the district have been abandoned by civilians recently and some people, who cannot afford to migrate, are stuck inside their homes and when they do come out, they are targeted by the criminal US forces and are martyred.

The deserted villages are as follows: Khanano, Pirzo, Bakhshak, Mullah Azizullah, Hazaragano, Malik Abdullah Aka, Kala Miyano, Chinari, Za’firani, Garo, Chardah, Khwaja Gadia, Ahmadzo, Gunbati and Sarkaila. These are those villages which have been totally emptied and some people who are still there have been trapped in their homes for months. The Maulavi adds that the people who he knows that have been martyred by the terrorist Americans area as follows: From our village Haji Mullah Shah Wali, our elder Mustahib Lala, Tribal elder Haji Muhammad Anwar, Haji Fazlo’s elder son, Mullah Shahzad Faqir’s brother and cousin. From Kala Miyano village Haji Saleh Muhammad’s 4 sons, Haji Khair Muhammad’s son and another one of their guests who went outside the house and was instantly martyred by the barbaric Americans.

Similarly in the past few days the son of Sayed Rassol Aka, Adams cousin, Haji Mirza’s cousin and two other elders from our village were also martyred. The Maulavi, who is a respected elder in his village, adds that the inhumane invaders had also martyred 20 innocent people in Miyanzo and Joshali villages in a single day a month earlier. It is also worth mentioning that the invading forces have also taken by force the houses of civilians and turned them into their outposts and have also made illegal roads in the fields and orchards of the ordinary people.

The War is Killing Afghanistan's Children. Enough! Afghan Civilians Intentionally Targeted by NATO/ISAF Forces

Careful examination of numerous reports, and images/video footage, along with eye-witness and victim testimonies, clarify that Afghan civilians are the main targets of deadly attacks by North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) and International Security Assistance Force (ISAF). Although the Coalition forces claim that previous civilian massacres were accidental, Afghan-led peace movements believe that the killings are at best negligent to at worst intentional in nature.

In addition to witness and victim testimonies, the Coalition forces themselves have made eye-opening revelations on the target killings of civilians. In September 2010, it was revealed that a dozen US soldiers faced charges in their involvement of not only killing innocent Afghan civilians at random for sport, but also collecting the victims finger bones, leg bones, teeth, and skulls as trophies. The military refuses to release photos that show US soldiers posing with naked, mutilated and charred corpses of their victims. Sound familiar? The father of one of the victims killed was quoted as saying, “The Americans really love to kill innocent people.” In fact, they had planned on killing more civilians had it not been for one soldier, Spc. Adam Winfield, and his father who tried relentlessly to blow the whistle. He had said his squad leader “gives high-fives to the guy who kills innocent people and plans more with him.- I have proof that they are planning another one in the form of an AK-47 (machine gun) they want to drop on another guy.” Instead of honoring Winfield for exposing the truth, he was instead charged with the same crimes. His father had reported Winfeld’s statements to Army officials, but they turned a blind eye. One can’t help but to wonder whether the killing of civilians for sport is more abhorrent or the apparent negligence and silence by the higher ups in the Armed forces.

Changes Through The Way Of The Ummah (‘an Thariq Al-Ummah) Does Not Mean Through The People Power or People's Revolution

.
In these recent weeks, we are still heated by the news related to the revolutions that occurred in some parts of the the Muslim countries in the Arab lands, such as that happened in Tunisia and Egypt, where the people succeeded in overthrowing President Ben Ali and Hosni Mubarak who had been in power for more than 23 years and 30 years respectively. These revolutions turned out to be an inspiration for some other Muslim countries especially in the Arab lands, for them to perform the same action i.e. to take to the streets demanding the rulers to step down from the throne of their power. In Indonesia, the same thing has ever happened i.e. in 1998 where the people and students succeeded in overthrowing the Suharto regime which had been in power for 32 years.

If we look at the reality of the changes that happened above, we can simply conclude that apparently the power to make the change could come from outside the parliament, and do not always come from within the parliament. And at least, history has never recorded any change that could be done by way of parliament, although it can be done. The changes in question here is the change from the kufr system to Islamic system, or in other words from the Kufr State (Darul Kufr) to become an Islamic State (Darul Islam).

From the above brief description, we can also conclude that apparently it is through the people or ummah that changes can be realized, namely when the ummah become more and more aware and when they understand better how untrustworthiness their leaders are. That awareness makes the ummah demand and call for the rulers who are in power to step down from the reins of power. But it is quite unfortunate, the ummah who already understand and are aware of the untrustworthiness of those rulers, are not balanced with the correct understanding of how damaging the applied system is. The ummah are only seeing those personages who led them, but they still do not understand that the problem is not just who is leading them but also what system is used to lead them.

However, by looking at the reality of the changes mentioned above, i.e. through the implementation of a People's Revolution, it does not mean that it is allowed by shara’. So the question is, how is the ruling of shara’ related to the changes by means of the People's Revolution, although it is also through the way of the ummah (‘an thariq al-ummah)?

It was mentioned that the changes that we mean are the changes in the perception of Islam, i.e. from the kufr system to Islamic system, or the changes from the kufr State to the Islamic State. Therefore, the changes made should be resembling what Rasulullah SAW had done when he succeeded in establishing the Daulah (Sovereignty) of Islam in Madinah. But in this case, we will not discuss in depth the subject about the marhalah (implementation) of the da'wah of Rasulullah, because what we're looking at here is the issue of changes through the way of the ummah, is it just the People Power or is there any other means?

Changes Through The Way Of The Ummah

1. People Power

The People Power is the strength of the people; usually used to make changes by toppling the existing regime and then replacing it with a new regime. These changes through the power of the people can be used for the purpose of reform, as well as revolution, whether it be for changing some parts of the existing system or replacing the whole of the existing system with a totally different system. This is as we can see from what have happened, be it in Tunisia, Egypt or Indonesia.

However, it is very ironic when we look at how those changes came about. Isn't it the purpose of changes to go towards something that is better? But the fact is, the People Power or People's Revolution often causes tremendous chaos, among others are at the expense of public properties such as road signs which got vandalized, looting, destruction of other public facilities, as well as the impacted welfare of the people. In fact, we even see the large numbers of victims, either killed or injured. As this condition goes on, the aim to achieve a better life is a far cry from reality. Moreover, this way can also trigger a horizontal conflict which will result in the split amongst the ummah. The question is, is it possible to build a solid state and government that can ensure the operation of the entire system if the ummah or citizens are divided? It is obviously impossible.

Besides that, the method of change such as this is clearly contrary to the ruling of shara’, both in terms of the activities which are destructive to public properties and the method of change itself which had never been exemplified by Rasulullah SAW, although in reality it is through the wishes of the ummah in general.

2. Developing The Awareness Of The People

The second alternative is by way of extensively developing the awareness of the ummah about importance of change, which is not only limited to the change in the regimes but also the system. The ummah must be groomed to believe and accept the Islamic system, whether it be the system of governance, economics, social, education, legal sanctions, as well as its foreign policy. Because, the strength of the state and government in the view of Islam lies in the ummah. Because, the fact is that the state is a technical entity that implements the entire conception (mafahim), standardization (maqayis) and conviction (qana’ah) accepted by the ummah. Due to that, the acceptance of the ummah on those Islamic conception, standardization and conviction become the basic pillars for the establishment of the Islamic system. And same goes vice versa.

Therefore, it is important for a tasqif to be performed on the ummah, be it tasqif murakazah (intensive development) or tasqif jama’iy (the development of the ummah in general). The ummah should be made to understand about the the perfection of Islam as a religion, and at the same time as an ideology that gives birth to a system, namely the Islamic system. So it will make the ummah understand and realize and with it the ummah will naturally want a change, both on the untrustworthy leaderships and the applied system.

Because, the problem is not just who is leading, but also what system is used to lead. Put a trustworthy person to lead, one with good akhlaq, but if the system used is not the Islamic system, then it can be argued that he is a righteous leader but one who is being in the wrong place.

The Process of Change

After the ummah have been made to understand and realize about the perfection of Islam, both as a religion and ideology, then the activities used to actualize the next changes are the activities of thalab an-nusrah or demanding of power. This was what Rasulullah SAW had done, since he was doing the da'wah in Makkah to the time when he successfully established the daulah of Islam in Madinah.

The method which has been outlined by Rasulullah SAW, the way used by Rasulullah SAW in making changes, which includes in it the establishment of an Islamic government, was through the thalab an-nusrah; namely by seeking help from anyone who did have the power and was able to aid his da'wah.

Since the party that had the power at that time were the chieftains of the various clans and tribes, so it was from them that Rasulullah SAW really tried to get help. Rasulullah had approached the Bani Tsaqif in Taif, Bani Hanifah, Bani Kalb, Bani Amir bin Sa’sa’ah and a number of other tribes. But it turned out that they all refused. There were those who refused harshly, in fact even inhumanely, such as what he suffered in Taif, there were also those who refused unconditionally, such as what he received when he expressed his wishes to the Bani Hanifah, or he was rejected because he did not want to grant the preconditions set by them, such as what he experienced with the Bani Amir bin Sa’sa’ah.

In the current context, the thalab an-nusrah can be made to the heads of state, the chieftains of the clans and tribes such as the chieftains in Pakistan and Afghanistan, the police, military or anyone who has the power and influence in the community. But first, they must believe in the Islamic system and acknowledge its truth. As the Prophet did and asked from the chieftains of every kabilah, or to the rulers of the Arab countries at that time. He also asked them to acknowledge him and provide him protection.

With that, what is meant by ‘an thariq al-ummah (through the way of the ummah) is not the People Power or the People's Revolution, except hard and systematic efforts to build a system based on the strength of the ummah, through their conviction, support and implementation of that system. As for the process of change, from the kufr system to the Islamic system, it is only done through the thalab an-nusrah, no other way. Wallahu A’lam. []

These Are The Charges On Abu Bakar Ba’asyir Regarding The Military Training In Aceh

.
Jakarta – In the reading of indictment by the JPU (public prosecutor) in the District Court of South Jakarta, there are a series of charges imposed on Ustadz Abu Bakar Ba’asyir, including the allegation of approving and financing the military training in Aceh. The Amir of the Jama'ah Ansarut Tauhid (JAT) is also charged with carrying out provocations to commit terror.

According to the JPU, Ustadz Abu was involved in the planning, physical preparation of the human resources and collecting money, among others through Thoyib, Dr. Syarif Usman, Hariyadi Usman, Abdul Hakim, Uqbah, Afif Abdul Majid, Abdul Haris, Yudo and Ubaid, in the amount of +Rp. 1,039,500,000. Such amount of money was used to purchase firearms and ammunitions and to finance the military training activities in Aceh.

Other charges by the JPU are, Ustadz Abu is believed to have carried out incitements and provocations to commit terror (irhab), and the firearms which were purchased as a result of the fund-raising, were used by the participants of the military training for conducting attacks against police officers in some public places, like the attack in the Kurnia public bus on the highway in front of the Leupung police station.

The participants of the military training also conducted an armed assault against police officials in the region of Lamkabeu, located adjacent to the residential settlement, which have caused casualties and injuries on the police officials, and committed armed robbery in the Newnet internet cafe and Bank CIMB Niaga Medan, which caused the atmosphere of terror or fear.

Military Training

The 93-pages indictment mentioned that Ustadz Abu played his role in the approval of the military training in Aceh. In February 2009, Joko Pitono alias Dulmatin expressed to Ubaid his wish (member of the Shura council of JAT) to meet with Ustadz Abu. With Umar Burhanudin as the intermediary, a meeting between Dulmatin and Ustadz Abu was held in a shop owned by Ali Miftah (not far from Al-Mukmin Ngruki Islamic Boarding School).

Ustadz Abu and Dulmatin, JPU said, were planning to conduct military training (Tadrib Ashkari) in Aceh. Ustadz Abu requested Ubaid to conduct military training in Aceh according to what was proposed by Dulmatin, by asking Ubaid to discuss it with Muzayyin alias Mustaqim (Hisbah Chariman of Central JAT).

As a follow-up of the planning of a military training in Aceh, a meeting between Ustadz Abu, Muzayyin and Ubaid was held. Ustadz Abu asked for Muzayyin's opinion, where he then proposed for Abu Tholut to be involved due to his vast experiences. The proposal was eventually approved by Ustadz Abu.

Two days later, a meeting between Abu Tholut and Muzayyin was held in the complex of Al-Mukmin Ngruki Ponpes (traditional Islamic boarding school). When asked for his readiness to become the accountable leader of the ashkari training program in Aceh, Abu Tholut stated his readiness. Abu Tholut then met Dulmatin at Abdul Hamid's house in Ngruki.

March 2009, Ubaid was picked up by Dulmatin at the Lebak Bulus Terminal where they later headed for Warsito's residence in Ciputat to discuss about the survey of the training site in Aceh and the needed funds i.e. around Rp. 15 millions. The next day, Dulmatin, Ubaid and Abu Tholut talked about the plan for the survey of the military training site in Aceh. Abu Tholut requested Ubaid to meet Ustadz Abu to ask for the funding of the survey in Aceh.

In Ngruki, Ubaid met Ustadz Abu to convey the message from Dulmatin who requested a financial support of Rp. 15 millions, in accordance with the result of the meeting between Ubaid, Abu Tholut and Dulmatin in Ciputat. Consequently, Ustadz Abu agreed for the survey of the military training site in Aceh to be done by giving money in the sum of Rp. 5,000,000, and then asked Ubaid to meet Joko Daryono alias Thoyib (Treasurer of Central JAT) in Surakarta to ask for additional funds amounting to Rp. 10,000,000.

The money was brought by Ubaid to Jakarta after being picked up by Dulmatin. Next, Dulmatin requested Abu Tholut to come to the Soekarno-Hatta Airport. And then the three of them (Dulmatin, Ubaid and Abu Tholut) departed for Aceh using the Lion Air aircraft, bringing the Rp.15,000,000. At that time, Abu Tholut was using the name Ibnu Muhammad, Ubaid used Luthfi Haidaroh and Dulmatin used the name Yahya Ibrahim.

Upon arriving at the Sultan Iskandar Muda Airport Banda Aceh, Ubaid, Dulmatin and Abu Tholut were picked up by Yudi Zulkfahri where they then headed for the office of Yayasan As-Sofa. In the afternoon, a meeting chaired by Abu Tholut was held, attended by Dulmatin, Tengku Marzuki, Ustadz Kamal, Yudi Zulfahri, Ali Miftah, Ubaid and a few others. In that meeting, Abu Tholut inquired Yudi about the condition of Aceh, whether Aceh was suitable to be made as a jihad arena, which he responded in the positive.

After the meeting, Ubaid along with Abu Tholut and Dulmatin conducted a survey in the mountains of Jantho, Aceh Besar, guided by Tengku Marzuki. In short, the result of the survey was agreed upon by Abu Tholut. After the survey, Ubaid, Dulmatin and Abu Tholut returned to Jakarta.

Accused of Incitements

In July 2009, Ustadz Abu was accused of committing instigations or provocations during a lecture at the house of Alex (alias Asep alias Ginawan) – Ashkari Leader of JAT for the Wilayah of North Sumatera - in Stabat, Langkat Province, North Sumatera. The lecture was attended by Alex, Khairul Ghazali, Alidian alias Ajo and dozens other jama'ahs from Medan.

The JPU questioned the lecture of Ustadz Abu who according to them had said that in conducting jihad, first, we must have a wilayah (territory) no matter how small, where we must have the complete control over the territory. Therefore, the first step that we must do is searching for the area or location that we can use as a base, markaz or a place of hijrah.

Ustadz Abu explained, if we have found the place, we can carry out jihad as a whole, where we can master and control the place. Ustadz Abu also said that fa’i (robbery to seek for the funding of the struggle) is among the justified means in Islam, but before conducting fa’i, first, the people have to be killed, so that their wealth can be acquired. Not merely taking the properties. This fa’i is aimed at all the kafir people, namely the people who are out of Islam and the rulers or government governments who are Muslim but are not applying the Islamic Shari'ah (thagut).

To acquire the wilayah of hijrah or Qaidah Aminah or mahjar (destination of hijrah), Ustadz Abu said that it is by conducting surveys to find a place which enables the performance and training of the ikhwans on whom the ‘idad and tadrib ashkari (preparation and military exercises) are to be prepared for the operations of jihad.

Ustadz Abu also said that the kafir who become the enemies of Islam are the people who are waging war and hostile to Islam openly and patently. Their characteristic is that they do not want this country to become a State where the Islamic Shar'ah is established. This characteristic is enough reason for us to fight them (America, Jews and their allies, Christians and governmental authorities who are Muslim but not implementing the Shari'ah of Islam).

International Khilafah Conference 2011 : “Welcoming The Return Of Khilafah Islamiyah”

.
Jakarta – The Sharia4Indonesia, Thursday, 10th March 2011, will be holding an International Khilafah Conference 2011, with the theme “Welcoming The Return of Khilafah Islamiyah”. This conference, in the form of a talkshow, is planned to be held at the event of the 10th Islamic Book Fair, at Istora Senayan, Jakarta. Please attend and enliven this important moment for the revival of Islam in this country. Allahu Akbar!

87 Years of Life Without a Khilafah

The Khilafah Islamiyah, a system of government based on Islamic Shari'ah, collapsed on 3rd March 1924 in the hands of the Zionist agent - the creation of the British named Mustafa Kemal At-Tatruk. Since then, the Islamic ummah have lost the protector and lived without the application of Islamic Shari'ah in kaafah (comprehensiveness) all over the world. The Islamic ummah are divided into approximately 50-plus nationalist countries which are not bound to one another with a saheeh bond, i.e. the bond of Islamic Aqeedah.

Since the collapse of the khilafah, the Islamic ummah have always been humiliated, their territories occupied, their blood shed, their honors abused and their religion insulted. It has been 87 years since the Islamic ummah have been living without the shelter of the khilafah, and experiencing a pathetic condition. Will the condition of the Islamic ummah continue to be like this?

The Return of Khilafah Based on the Method of Prophethood

Currently, the world is changing, the Islamic ummah around the world are seeing a glimmer of hope for the return of the glory and blessings of life under the shade of Islamic Shari'ah, under the governmental system of Khilafah Islamiyah. The echoes of the rising of Islam which has long sounded is now beginning to show results.

The collapse of the dictatorial regime of Tunisia, followed by Egypt, has become a concern for all the dictators, particularly in the Arab countries and the surroundings. This condition can be a mark for the expiration of the cruel and ruthless dictatorial leadership and the early emergence of the system of Khilafah Islamiyah. This is in line with the prophetic report from Rasulullah SAW:

“…then it will be a tyrannical rule (MULKAN JABARIYYAH), and it will remain so for as long as Allah wills, then He will lift it if He wishes, then it will be a Khilafah on the method of the Prophethood (KHILAFAH ‘ALAA MINHAJIN NUBUWWAH), then he (the Prophet) kept silent.” (Musnad Imam Ahmad)

If the moment (Khilafah Islamiyah) comes, then the Islamic ummah, in fact the ummah all over the world, will be living in peace and prosperity and the rahmah (mercy) of Allah SWT will descend upon the entire cosmos. Is that time already nigh? Are the Islamic ummah ready to welcome the return of the Khilafah Islamiyah? What should they do?

Sheikh Anjem Choudary Will Be One Of The Speakers

To get all the answers to those questions, then attend and witness the International Khilafah Conference 2011 with the theme “Welcoming The Return of Khilafah Islamiyah” organized by the Sharia4Indonesia, on Thursday, 10th March 2011, at the Istora Senayan, Jakarta, at the Anggrek Hall, 2nd Floor to be exact, at 19.00 -21.00 hours local time.

The plan is that the event will feature, as speakers, Sheikh Anjem Choudary (activist of Islam4UK), Habib Rizieq (General Chairman of FPI [Islamic Defenders Front]) and Ustadz Abu Fatiah Al-Adnani (Author of the book “The End Times”). May this event run smoothly and successfully. Insha Allah!

Remember The 3rd March This Year!

.
This article was written to remember the collapse of the Khilafah on 3rd March 1924. Hope it can enlighten the readers.

When our eyes are fixed on the turmoil in the Arab world, we will realize that this pattern is only the repeat of the major events half a century ago. The overthrowing of the military-based regimes in Tunisia, Egypt and soon in Libya, is a “karma” from what they had done against the earlier regimes. When America is predicted to soon intervene in the affair of Libya under the pretext of overthrowing a dictator, as he did eight years ago in Iraq, we will remember that the regime of Saddam Hussein and the regime of Khadafi were born from just about the same process, in the same manner as the regimes of Ben Ali and Abdun Naser—the predecessor of Hosni Mubarak.

These regimes ascended the throne after overthrowing the monarchy regimes (kingdoms), or the regimes which had just replaced the monarchy and then established a republic over its ruins. Abdun Naser rose to become a president after overthrowing King Farouk, Saddam Hussein overthrew president Abdurrahman Arif who had overthrown the kingdom, Ben Ali was appointed to replace president Bouguiba after the removal of a Bey (title of a king in Tunisia), Khadafi toppled King Idris, and what also cannot be forgotten is the Mullah Revolution in Iran which toppled King Shah Reza. Then they showed themselves as oppositions to the West and took side with the socialist bloc of the Soviet Union, while applying dictatorship upon their subjects. But slowly, especially after the collapse of Soviet Union, it was exposed that they are in truth the agents of the West, be it America or British/Europe, the two Western camps which are competing for influence.

The consequence is that the turmoil in the Arab World, since the reign of the Daulah Utsmani (the Ottoman), can be simplified into five phases so far: under the Daulah Utsmani, then colonized by Europe, then stood the monarchy, next - the revolutions to establish dictatorial republics took place and now we are witnessing the process towards the next phase: the revolutions to overthrow the dictators of the republics to be replaced with Western-style liberal-democratic republics — which has been successfully implemented in Indonesia!

The Next Phase : Khilafah?

Five years before Rasulullah SAW acquired the power to establish an Islamic State in Madinah, the battle of Bu’ath took place in the town in which the original name was Yathrib. The war that broke out between two major tribes, which later became the people of the Ansar, the helpers of Rasul SAW, namely the kabilah of Aus and Khazraj, changed the socio-political structure of the nation of Madinah until Rasulullah SAW did his hijrah to that town, this was recorded in a hadith which is the riwaayah of ‘Aisyah,

“The day of Bu'ath was the day (battle) which Allah destined to happen before the coming of His Rasul's mission. That when Rasulullah arrived in Madinah, they (the clans) had been divided (into groups that are in enmity with each other) and their aristocrats had been killed. All this projected them to the acceptance of Islam upon themselves.” (HR. Bukhari)

Therefore, when the envoys from Madinah went to meet the Prophet SAW in Makkah, they said that they were in a prolonged feud and hoped that the presence of Rasulullah SAW in that town would be able to unite all the kabilahs under the bond of the aqeedah of Islam.

History is repeating itself, the battle of the modern Bu'ath is happening now, when the ummah split into dozens of small countries in the prison of nationalism, then there existed animosity between the people and the dictatorial rulers, which finally burst into revolutions in recent months. Also, the aristocrats (read : dictatorial rulers) have been dethroned by force by their subjects. All this will change the socio-political structure of the Arab nation, causing the ummah to be in confusion and experience a “vacuum of ideas” and make them think : "what's next?" until at some point, they will turn to an alternative ideology and system, namely the ideology and system of Islam in the form of the Khilafah Islamiyah state.

Indeed, the West seek to make these revolutions end up at what suits their desires, i.e. the creation of the liberal-democratic countries, as this author describes above, under the auspices of the regimes which are still their stooges. But the ummah are not stupid. They are toppling the dictators not because of being ordered by America, but because of the awareness to stop tyranny. They want freedom, but not the hedonistic-styled liberalism of America but freedom to live a normal life that is better and the fulfilment of basic needs, as well as the freedom to apply the Shari'ah. They want a just government, but not the figure of a president in the style of the liberal-democracy, but a fair leader who is elected by the ummah and who is accountable to the ummah. In essence, they want a change for their own good, not the benefits of America, although America is trying to ride on this change. And all those wants can really be met in the system of Khilafah which applies the Shari'ah.

So, it is not impossible, after the occurrence of the modern Bu'ath in the form of the Arab Revolution, that sooner or later the pendulum of change will swing in the direction of the creation of the public awareness crossing the Muslim nations to immediately implement the Shari'ah in their countries, then unite with all the Muslims to be inside the bond aqeedah under the same shade, namely the shade of the Khilafah. The precondition is that, all the components that realize this must work hard on this project, which is no other than Da'wah.

Remember the 3rd March this Year!

The presence of the chained reactions from the Tunisian revolution onto the other Muslim countries shows that there is one common feeling of the Islamic ummah, which of course becomes the major capital in the unity of the ummah since the founding of the first Islamic State in Madinah by Rasulullah SAW. When one part of the ummah suffers and then rises up against injustices, another parts of the ummah can not sleep, and then collectively rise to do the same thing. Just as Rasulullah SAW told us that this ummah is like a one body, when one part of the body is in pain, other parts of the body also feel the sickness.

On that ground, the Islamic ummah could not linger and stay long in this condition, they must immediately react exhaustively and complete the shift towards the phase of the Khilafah. For 1300 years, the ummah were under the same Khilafah, then the West conspired to destroy the buildings of Islam. Until that 3rd March 1924, the last Khilafah, namely the Daulah Utsmani in Turkey, was sabotaged by a traitor named Mustafa Kemal.

Today, the 3rd of March, when this article was written, exactly 87 years later, the Islamic ummah are still in a vacuum for a Khilafah. But the 3rd of March this year is different. On the 3rd of March this year, we are witnessing a large wave of the ummah rising against the dictatorial regimes, which are the formation of the West. That big giant has awaken. Amid the failure of the thaghut to solve the problems of poverty, ignorance and corruption, amid the increasingly piercing calls for the establishment of the Khilafah, from Beirut, Al-Quds to Jakarta, amid the struggle of the ummah along with the Mujahideen to repel the invaders, from Somalia, Palestine, Iraq to Afghanistan, the ummah are knitting the ropes of the unity of aqeedah which has long been cut by the invaders.

Now, the Arab Revolution may extend to become the Islamic World Revolution. And the awareness for this unity will continue to grow until the ummah find their genuine leader (imam) who will protect them from the attacks by the kuffar people and apply the law of Allah, i.e the Shari'ah,

“Indeed, the Imam is a shield. The ummah will be fought from his behind and will be protected by him. If he orders taqwa toward Allah and do justice then he will be rewarded (a very great reward). But if he orders other than that, then he will get a sin for it.” HR.Muslim

Therefore, remember the 3rd March this year! Allahu Akbar!
