Al-Qaeda In Yemen Releases Statement On The Death Of Anwar Al Awlaki

.

At the end of August 2011, the media reported the death of a charismatic American-born ulama', Anwar al Awlaki.

He was reportedly killed by drone missile attack that hit the motorcade he was in. The report also mentioned that Awlaki's companion from America, Samir Khan also died. Samir Khan was one of the authors or creators of the online magazine of Al-Qaeda In The Arab Peninsula (AQAP) named INSPIRE. The online magazine itself has been published up to the seventh series.

Initially, the news of the death of these two Internet jihadist figures, originating from America who lately lived in Yemen, was mysterious. America and the Yemeni government claimed that they had killed both of them, but others believed that Awlaki was not dead.

Today, Monday 10th October 2011, Al-Qaeda In the Arab Peninsula (AQAP) has just issued their official statement, that confirmed the death of the two profiles, Anwar Al Awlaki and Samir Khan.

That release was circulated to an international Islamic jihad forums, Shamikh1.info. In their release, the AQAP mentioned that "The blood of Sheikh Anwar al Awlaki and his friend (Samir Khan) will not be spilled in vain... our warriors.... will soon make you pay for it."

The statement also contains: "America can kill Sheikh Anwar... but they can not kill his belief. The martyrdom of Sheikh Anwar gives a new life to his faith and style."

"O Yemeni fighters, it is your job to win the freedom of the revolution from the West and rejection of the American projects," the statement added.

This release from Al-Qaeda in Yemen puts an end to the controversy on the news of the death of al Awlaki. With this release Al-Qaeda acknowledges that the ulama' renowned through his jihad lectures in English on the Youtube has now been martyred. But this release was issued in Arabic, not in English as commonly used in the INSPIRE magazine.
