SOLO - The janaza of Yuki Wantoro was having a hero's welcome in Solo with the title "Mujahid" and "Warrior of Islam" given to him, though he was shot dead by the Densus 88 Team for being suspected as having involvment in the CIMB Bank robbery in Medan. This Mu’allaf (new Muslim) was also received well by his parents who are still Christian.
After Fajr, Wednesday (29/9), the road leading to the Yuki’s house was steadily thronged by the Islamic ummah. At the gate that serves as a sign for the alley where the village of Tempen, Joyosuran, Pasar Kliwon subdistrict, was located, a large banner that reads “Welcome Shuhada’ Allah, Hero of Islam” was installed. At about 6:30 AM local time, the entourage of the janaza arrived consisting of one ambulance, a family’s car and a guards patrol’s vehicle. Without any command, thundering takbeer immediately echoed filling the atmosphere along the road.
The janaza was then taken to Masjid Al-Hidayah. Hundreds of people continued to come and take turn in performing the solatul janaza for this Mu’allaf who was shot dead by the Densus 88 team without any clear status. Journalists could be seen congregating across the road waiting to report the event. Not far from there were also many intelligence operators from a number of units, they were also watching the event. Despite wearing plain clothes, their faces could not hide their identities.
Posters of an A4 size could also be seen filling in every space of the alley. With a white paper that reads “TV One Not Allowed Entry!” For the umpteenth time, this Television company owned by the Bakrie group became an object of rejection in each of the victim of the Densus 88’s brutality. Some ikhwans said that the reason for the rejection was because of their very doubtful neutrality and objectivity.
“Because all these while, TV One seemed so keen in broadcasting imbalance news on the activists of Islam. And they are very intimate with the Densus 88,” said one of the residents who did not want his name mentioned.
From the masjid, the janaza was then moved to the family’s house. Although word got out earlier that both his parents refused, but that morning both Yuki’s parents wanted to accept the janaza of the youth shot dead in Medan some time ago. “Yes, I am accepting him sir. After all he is my son. I am also the one who raised him,” Sina Karyadi said. The mother, Ngatini also could not restrain her grief. Tears rolling down her cheeks. At about 08.00 AM the wails that came from the ambulance carrying the janaza could be heard slowly moving down the alley toward the highway.
“Allahu Akbar…Allahu Akbar..!!” Mourners raised their fists upward in the air while crying out the takbeer. The echoes of the takbeer continued to rage until the morning from the hundreds of activists coming from the city of Solo who crowded the village of Tempen, Joyosuran.
The journey to the burial site took half an hour, as the Islamic cemetery is located in the village of Wonosari, Polokarto sub-district, Sukoharjo district, which is far from Yuki’s house.
A day earlier, on Tuesday (28/9/2010), word got out that the community of Wonosari village agreed to reject the arrival of the Yuki’s janaza, signed by the Chairman of the Neighborhood Watch and the Village Head. This rejection is the product of the provocation by the enemies of Islam on the general public who did not know anything. Thus the community would then refuse by intercepting the entourage of the janaza.
However, in order to fend off that provocation, the Secretary of the ISAC (The Islamic Studies and Action Center), Endro Sudarso, affirmed his determination to bury the janaza of Yuki in the cemetery of that village, “Whatever the risks, Yuki’s janaza will still be buried in Wonosari village.. yes whatever the risks,” he resolved.
To anticipate the rejection by the residents who had been provoked, then on Wednesday (29/9) after the Fajr, about 40 laskars (Islamic troops) were sent to the burial site. Apparently, the threat from the provocateurs who rejected the funeral was only an imagined thing. Until the janaza arrived at the cemetery, not even one person rejected. The funeral service was running smoothly.
In between the funeral process, Endro Sudarso explained that the janaza of Yuki Wantoro was in a pitiful condition due to the torture by the Densus 88. There are several gunshot wounds on his body i.e. at three points namely two on the left temple and one on the left side of the neck.
Other peculiarity, Endro contined, Yuki’s left hand had also been broken. These facts show that the Densus 88 is seriously violating the Human Rights.
“Even after Yuki had been buried, the family still have not received any arrest warrant,” Endro complained.
These treatments by the Densus led to obscurity with regards to the status of Yuki, was he a suspect in the robbery of the CIMB Bank in Medan or a terrorism offender? Nevertheless, the Densus 88 Team had already killed him violently. It is because of it that the family and ISAC are determined to investigate all this tyranny and proceed to process all the relevant parties.
Earlier, in a press conference in Solo, Monday night (27/9/2010), the ISAC revealed many irregularities in the shooting of Yuki by the Densus 88. According to the Secretary of the ISAC, Endro Sudarso, Yuki’s murder by the Densus with charges of committing bank robbery on 18th August 2010 was so unreasonable. Because, according to Endro, Yuki has a strong alibi that he was not involved in the CIMB Bank robbery in Medan in accordance with some complete chronology from the witnesses i.e. as follows:
1. Tuesday, 17th Agustus 2010 Yuki was at home, a house with the address RT 04 RW 02, Tempen, Joyosuran, Pasar Kliwon, Solo.
2. A day later, Wednesday 18th August 2010 Yuki bought credits for his brother’s handphone, Yudi Mansur (34) and he joked with his mother.
3. Thursday 19th August 2010, Yudi Mansur, his brother took a photo of Yuki using the camera on his handphone. The plan was, the photo would be used for making of a KTP (National Identity Card).
4. Friday 20th August 2010 Yuki made a KTP at Pasar Kliwon province by using the photo he took on 19th August 2010.
5. Saturday 21st August 2010 Yudi departed for Jakarta.
6. Sunday 19th September 2010, Yuki Wantoro was shot dead by the Densus in a raid at a house in Belawan, North Sumatera.
Due to that, the ISAC urged the Police to clarify to the ummah especially the family of Yuki Wantoro, why was Yuki accused as being involved in the Medan CIMB Bank robbery, whereas at that time Yuki was in Solo.
