FPI Questioned The Identity Of The 2 Presumed Terrorists In Cawang

.
When visiting the DPR (Parliament – ed.), the Front Pembela Islam (FPI) or Islamic Defenders Front requested that the Commission III asked for the Densus 88 and Police Head, General Bambang Hendarso Danuri to be held accountable for the two 'terrorist' suspects who were shot in Cawang.

"2 individuals were claimed to have connections with the terrorists," said the Leader of Nahi Munkar movement, the Front Pembela Islam (FPI), Munarman, during an audience with the DPR’s Commission III in the Parliament Building, Senayan, Jakarta, Tuesday (31/8/2010).

It was said that they, the 2 presumed terrorists’ identities are still unclear even after they had been buried at the Pondok Rangon Cemetery.

"The two men were buried at the Pondok Rangon using the name Mr X. This needs to be investigated because it involves someone's life," Munarman said.

The two terrorist suspects who were shot dead by the Densus 88 in Cawang, were buried at last. A month went by and still there was no family coming forward to claim the janazas.

Meanwhile regarding the issue of Aceh, Munarman demanded that the DPR’s Commission III provide protection for the 9 terrorism suspects who had been trained by Sofyan Tsauri, in order to expose the terrorism allegations.

"We are asking the Commission III so that they could protect the 9 individuals who had been trained by Sofyan Tsauri, at least make their status as being not a suspect yet," Munarman said.

Munarman stated that the accusation of terrorism in Aceh must be exposed openly by the Commission III. Because his party no longer trust the police.

"If these 9 men were to be arrested by the police, then we will not be able to expose the cases of the alleged terrorism (as the police would be manipulating them)," Munarman said.

Earlier, Munarman questioned the identity of Sofyan Tsauri. Sofyan was believed to be an intelligence who was implanted by certain parties to design the movement in Aceh which cornered one side as terrorists. Sofyan was said to be a deserter of the Police’s Brimob (Mobile Brigade) because of an involvement in disciplinary actions.

The FPI also questioned the operational funds for the Densus 88, remembering that the Densus, in its every operation was not financed by the APBN (national budget).

"We are asking the Commission III to do an audit on the funding of the Densus, because all these while, it was unclear who actually financed the Densus as the Densus was never funded by the APBN," he said.

Munarman claimed that his party have proof of the existence of funds flow from overseas for financing the police operations. The Densus was said to be receiving USD 7.7 millions. "This data was obtained directly from the U.S. Department of Foreign Affairs," Munarman claimed.
