FPI Denounces The Arrest Of Ustadz Abu Bakar Ba'asyir

Ba'asyir’s arrest is politically motivated

JAKARTA - Monday, 9th August 2010, the DPP (central leadership council) of the Front Pembela Islam or Islamic Defenders Front (FPI) issued their statement of position over the arrest of Ustadz Abu Bakar Ba’asyir. Present at the press conference were Islamic leaders; Al-Habib Muhammad Rizieq Syihab (General Chairman of DPP FPI) Munarman SH (Command Leadership of Laskar Umat Islam), Dr. Jose Rizal Jurnalis (President of Mer-C), Ahmad Fatih (Administrator of JAT Imaroh Wilayah Jakarta) as well as several other key figures.

A number of important points were read out by the General Chairman of the FPI, Al-Habib Muhammad Rizieq Syihab, from the letter of FPI's statement of position, amongst them are:

· DPP FPI rejects all forms of TERRORIZATION effort on Islam and Islamic figures along with its ummah.

· DPP FPI is deeply concerned and at the same time criticized the arrest of Ustadz Abu Bakar Ba’asyir by the Densus 88 while on a safari da’wah (da’wah journey) in West Java.

· DPP FPI strongly suspects that the arrest of Ustadz Abu Bakar Ba’asyir is:

An ENGINEERED POLITICAL TERRORISM because various cases engineered by the POLRI (national police of Republic of Indonesia – ed) have been exposed, such as the Case of Aan (drug charges engineered by the police on Ann who was forced to become a witness for the firearms possession case of the former boss of Maritim Jaya Inc., DT - ed.), the Case of a tramp keeping cannabis joints (another engineered fabrication where in the end five members of the POLRI, including the Head of Drug Unit were imprisoned - ed), the Case of Gayus and others.

The POLITIC OF DIVERTING THE ISSUES of the big cases such as the Century, the increase of TDL (Basic Electricity Tariff), the removal of fuel subsidies, the ‘fat’ accounts of POLRI officers, the involvement of POLRI in engineering the various fabrications, etc.

The POLITIC OF CRACKING DOWN the Islamic movement in order to execute the terror tactics on the Islamic activists who are concerned with the struggle for the implementation of the Islamic Shari’a.

DPP FPI has identified that the case of the “ACEH TERRORISTS” is a FABRICATED TERRORISM played by the deserter of the Brimob (Mobile Brigade) named SUFYAN TSAURI who had recruited and trained suspects of the “ACEH TERRORISTS” at the Mako Brimob in Kelapa Dua –Cimanggis-Depok- West Java, since 2009, thus no relation to Ustadz Abu Bakar Ba’asyir.

· DPP FPI calls upon the Islamic ummah to unite and strengthen the ukhuwah Islamiyyah, as well as to fight against any tyranny, at the same time to conduct legal defense for Ustadz Abu Bakar Ba’asyir in accordance with the applicable laws and regulations.

Ba'asyir’s arrests was masterminded by a deserter of Brimob (Mobile Brigade)

After reading the position statement, Habib Rizieq demanded the Police to uncover who exactly Sufyan Tsauri is:

“We the DPP FPI are asking the Police to publicize who Sufyan Tsauri is, who is he? His identity? Where he lives? Because he was the actual central figure, he is the one who recruited, trained and funded. And interestingly he trained them at Mako Brimob, after that the trained youngsters were brought to Aceh for battle training, to be raided, shot and accused as terrorists.

He was also supplying weapons, AK 47 were supplied with thousands of ammunitions and we have youngsters who participated in the exercise at Mako Brimob, that they were not involved in the war exercise in Aceh. We are protecting them now, we'll take them to the DPR RI (House of Representatives) commission III when ready.

Now they're under our protection because this involves their lives, they could be kidnapped at any moment or killed by the people who feel that their interests are being harmed. We worry that these engineering works (fabrications) are intentionally wanting to carry out terrorization on the Islamic ummah, whereas the Islamic ummah are not terrorists, only terrorized!”

It Is Haram To Be Silent On The Arrest of Ustadz Abu Bakar Ba’asyir

JAKARTA - Among the leaders present at the FPI headquarters in Central Jakarta was one of the administrators of JAT Imaroh Wilayah Jakarta, Ahmad Fatih, who took the opportunity to convey some important points about the stance of the Jama’ah Ansharut Tauhid over the arrest of its Amir. Some of which are as follows:

First, We believe that the arrest of Ustadz Abu Bakar Ba’asyir is a form of provocation against the Islamic ummah approaching this Ramadhan, because Ustadz Abu is one of the leaders of Islamic organizations.

Second, We declare it haram for us to be silent and not doing any effort with their decision to arrest Ustadz Abu Bakar Ba’asyir.

Third, We appeal to the Islamic ummah to be readily acting in any way justified by the Shari’a within the framework of defending Ustadz Abu Bakar Ba’asyir.
