THE SON OF THE BATTALION

Ayyash was born on 6th March 1966. He grew up as a very quiet child. However, behind his quietness, he possessed an incredible intelligence. In school, the small Ayyash did not only dominate the subjects in his class, but also those of the students above his level.

He passed the secondary school in 1984 with an accumulation of 92.8. After his graduation, he began to be active in the Hamas movement. He continued his further study in the University of Beirzeit by taking the field in electrical engineering. His university days were also filled with Islamic activities. He passed the higher education in 1991 and got married in 1992.

His military activities already began in 1991. In his struggle, he knew the deep meaning of a struggle. Struggles had become his breath and blood. He studied the details of war diligently to the extent that the point of weakness of the Israeli invaders and the central strength of the Palestinian people were found.

Then, a war that combined the two things above was planned. An Intifadhah I was born. A war that confronted the two sides; the people who fear death and the people who seek death. Indeed, it was an imbalanced war.

In the thick of this Intifadhah, a lot of explosives were needed. Self explosion acts or what is always referred as martyrdom operations, plus other acts, used not a few but a lot of serial bombs. The Palestinian fighters did not have a lot of schemes as all the entrances for aids were shut. However, from his thoughts, an idea of making use of the basic chemicals in making bombs was born. All these materials are easily available in the pharmacies. Thereafter, explosions after explosions shattered Israel.

His first task was to assemble a bomb in a car. Unfortunately, it was discovered earlier by the Israelis. After a strict and brutal investigation and interrogation, the name of Ayyash as the No. 1 Wanted Man was declared. Ayyash then became a fugitive. On 25th April 1993, his house was searched, however nothing was found. And when they threatened his family, the mother even said, "Yahya has gone without leaving anything for us. Since he became a fugitive he was not our son anymore, but the son of the al-Qassam Battalion." A behavior which really irritated Israel. A character embodied by the long tarbiyah in the Hamas movement.

About four years being on the run, Israel with all its might was running out of ideas in hunting down Ayyash. On the other hand, in that four years, Ayyash also reached the peak of his glory by making bombs here and there. Creating a story that the Jewish people would never feel peace living in the land they occupied. Being on the run was the time of his struggle. In that struggle, he truly sacrificed himself for Palestine. As an engineer he could have enjoyed a comfortable life working overseas like what many of his friends had done, but he lived unsettled and always threatened. In fact, during those times, two of his sons were born. The first one was born in the earlier time of his running away and the second one was born before he gained his martyrdom.

There are a few lessons that he had given to the Islamic fighters. Firstly, the Islamic fighters must have a strong foundation of aqeedah and Iman. Because these are the things that make mankind yearn for death. Secondly, sirriyah and abilities to guard the tongues. All the operations conducted by Ayyash and al-Qassan Battalion was done in a super secrecy to the extent that their secrets could never be known to the Israelis before they actually happened. And Israel found it hard to penetrate into the body of al-Qassam.

Thirdly, the skills of being able to disappear from the eyes of the enemies. All elements of Israel had been deployed to arrest him, starting from the units in the military forces, the police, the border forces and the intelligence services, but none of them had succeeded in entrapping him. Due to this craftiness of Ayyash, he was called “Mr. Genius”, “a man with a thousand faces”, “a man with seven lives” and so on. The glorious achievement that he had accomplished was to be able to infiltrate into the Gaza Strip and made actions there, whereas in order to reach there he had to pass through thousands of armies and intelligence services forces. This achievement once made Yitsak Rabin thumped on the table in a meeting. Fourthly, jihad; "ish kariman au mut shaheedan". He was always obstinate in continuing his struggle and prepared himself to die as shaheed. He did not listen to the suggestions that advised him to escape to other countries.

For four whole years, Yitsak Rabin positioned the name of Ayyash on the top of the list in a special file for the most dangerous persons. This file had got the most priority in the program of his government. But what’s surprising was that the file was still in his hand when a fundamentalist Jew shot out bullets in front of his face. That incident was an added embarrassment for the intelligence and security services of Israel. While still unable to arrest Ayyash, a new problem presented itself. In this crucial moment, the director of SABAK, the Israeli intelligence service, submitted his resignation. This application was rejected as it would only raise the distrust of the people of Israel.

Due to that, in order to get back the confidence, the strategy for the assassination of Ayyash was planned in a better way by involving more parties. This assassination was hoped to become a new chapter in the struggle of the Palestinians. A struggle without the agitator. But would their hope materialize?

Friday, 5th January 1996, the Israel television announced that Ayyash had died in Beit Lahia, the Gaza Strip. The whole of Palestine, in fact even the Islamic ummah in the whole world wept. A bomb was installed in his Handy Talkie device. That device was received from a trader who apparently had a connection with the Israeli intelligence.

His death was so heartbreaking. A fighter who was the hope of the people had left them. But at least, it had given them new lessons. There are three things that could be obtained. Firstly, jihad is still the one and only solution for the Palestinian struggle. Secondly, his sincere struggle would generate a big influence on the common people. Thirdly, Israel still has to confront the fury of the Palestinian people that never subsides.

Apparently, Israel only has hopes left. The chapter of the struggle has not ended. Only in 10 days after the martyrdom of Ayyash, four martyrdom operations had been successfully launched by the successors of Ayyash. And evidently Ayyash still lives. In fact even to these days, his spirit and name are still be in our minds and hearts. He was the real figure of a fighter.

He did not aim to record his name in history, but it was history that had found the figures of the leading fighters like him. He was not someone who was crazy for reputation, but it was the society itself that had been searching for a figure like him to become a guide in their struggle.

2. Wrong usage of means of communication

Extremely dangerous factor for a Muslim is the wrong usage of means of communication, such as phone, internet etc. Any person who has realized the obligation of Jihad becomes an object of attention for security services. Enemies are not able to read our thoughts, [or] look into our hearts, but they can eavesdrop on our conversations, read [our] e-mails etc.

The easiest way to know a person's mood and thoughts is to tap and analyze what he says and writes, an elementary phone tapping and internet wiretap, to intercept telephone conversations, e-mails, chat [messages] and forum [posts]...

A mobile phone is also a source of signal for means of surveillance, therefore it is necessary to completely turn off the phone at secret locations (apartments, houses, meeting places etc.) by removing the battery and the SIM card, because the phone usually contains an additional energy source for saving its settings. The phone may be turned on only in the case of extreme necessity, and only during movement (in a car, bus etc.).

It needs to be known that surveillance through mobile phone may be tuned on a certain voice, therefore there is no sense to change phone number and phone itself for a person who is kept under surveillance "by voice". To prevent it, SMS should be used [instead].

A Mujahid whose statement was published, should know that his voice will be saved in a database of the electromagnetic intelligence of disbelievers, and his every phone conversation will be tapped automatically.

It needs to be firmly remembered that there are no secure phones: your phone for contacting your relatives, phone used only for internet access, [they] serve the enemy as the same source of information about your location. Remember: it is not the phone that is insecure, it is you who is insecure. Anytime you turn on your phone, it can be enough reason to target you.

According to statistics of Russian security services, during the last several years, around 80-90% successful operations against Mujahideen have been carried out due to surveillance and tapping of mobile phones.

All Mujahideen should be instructed regarding use of means of communication, and any violation of the instruction should be punished strictly. A place where a phone was turned on in violation of the instructions, is by then considered unsafe.

Internet activity also should be regulated by security rules. Visiting web-sites like kavkazcenter.com is strictly controlled by security services. What is more, even if a visitor of non-Muslim information resources, such as ingushetia.org or kavkaz-uzel.ru, reads only news about military actions and similar incidents, it also attracts attention of security services.

E-mail is also easily accessible source of information. Cracking an e-mail account's password is not hard for more or less experienced hacker. All your mail that stored on servers located in Russia is accessible for any [Russian] policeman. Therefore you should use non-Russian e-mail services and regularly (at least once in two weeks) change passwords. And don't write anything that can attract attention of the enemy! All e-mail in the world passes through the automatic system that reveals so called keywords. Be sure that phrase "SubhanAllah" is included in those keywords.

If a person is not able to fulfill security requirements, it is easier to expel him from a Jama`ah, than to expose other Muslims to fatal danger.

For example, a young Mujahid who arrived at a secret apartment and was waiting to go to the woods, was warned that he should not call anywhere from his phone, but then he was heard talking on the phone similar to: "No, brother, I can't tell you where I am now, it is unsafe, I can't endanger the brothers". From the outside it could appear like this Mujahid was just foolish, but the problem is that many brothers who consider themselves smart, behave like this. Such conversation will not leave any doubt in any policeman, let alone specialists who conduct surveillance. We will just add, that some time later that apartment was raided, and three experienced and cautious Mujahideen inside were martyred. And if senseless phone talk of that young Mujahid caused their killing, then he should think, what he will say in his excuse on the Judgment Day.

Deteriorating quality of mobile communication is a sign of danger. If all of a sudden you can't make mobile calls from a place where previously you did not have problems calling, then possibly there is a surveillance station working in your area, and you need to leave the area urgently.

If you are calling someone and the calls reach, but nobody answers, it could be a sign that the person was detained, and disbelievers are checking who is calling him.

First thing that disbelievers check after detaining someone suspected of links to Mujahideen, are SIM cards of their mobile phones. For this [purpose] they use a whole laboratory based on GAZelle [van], stuffed with various hardware.

All secret locations, as well as objects of work (disbelievers, apostates, weapon types, car types, names of Mujahideen groups etc.) should be encrypted by a previously agreed code, in order to prevent conversations such as: "let's meet where you have met our other friends the day before yesterday" - "what friends?" - "those who work with Abdulla" - "what Abdulla, senior or junior?" - "the one whose hand is not working enough" - "the one whose brother has been married... and where should we meet?..." etc.

It needs to be known that disbelievers may use tools for distant eavesdropping, that allow listening to a conversation in a house or a passing car from 80-100 meters. Therefore in places where such eavesdropping is possible, you should be silent or talk in a misleading way. In general, it is better to be silent more and talk less!

3. Leaking of information through relatives or close friends

The issue seems obvious, but nevertheless, many brothers still can't solve it. You should remember once and for all: if you yourself could not keep your own secret, then a person to whom you revealed it, all the more will not keep your secret.

Secrets of Jihad, military secrets are forbidden to tell anyone, even most trustworthy people. Mujahid can just blurt out, or he will be forced to talk after being tortured or drugged. Wife can share with her mother, and she will tell her friends or relatives...

Variants are countless, but all they lead to one thing: what is known by two people, is known by everybody.

In any case, any exchange of information should be substantiated (it is not allowed to tell secrets as an example or to raise morale) and minimized (if you can't hide something from your wife, then she should be warned not to tell it to her mother or reliable friends).

Sometimes some Muslims are so naive that they think that ties of kinship will prevent members of disbelieving forces from harming them. It should be clearly understood, that bitterness of war in Caucasus reached such high degree, that local "cops" do not hesitate to shoot, abduct and torture their "militant" relatives or those "suspected in links to militants".

We have often read postings in the internet forums that say something like, "I’d like to do jihad, who can help me? Where can we meet?" Those postings are sent either by the agent provocateur from the security apparatus, or the Muslims who are truly sincere, but naïve. Hence, we would like to dedicate this subject to those (naïve) ikhwans.

Jihad is a kind of personal obligation, but as an act of worship (ibaadah) jihad requires the fulfillment of certain conditions. What would we say about a man who establishes solat just by wearing shorts, on a dirty place with no wudhu (ablution), (and that guy) justifies his actions based on the fact that solat is an obligation when the time comes? Notwithstanding that, some ikhwans who have realized about the duty of Jihad, let themselves throw away a lot of time in front of the computers, while they do not prepare themselves morally, physically and intellectually at all, in order to fight in the way of Allah.

At the same time, Jihad nowadays is an activity of sabotage and surveillance, where in all the military forces of the world, this activity is only carried out by those who are specially selected, the elite fighters. Can we imagine if a soldier from the special group is someone who does not know the multiplication table, does not know how to shoot, and in fact does not know his weapon very well, who is unable to give first aids on the wounded and who does not fulfill the security requirements?

The disciplinary that can be found on the kafir forces is maintained by the feeling of fear of punishment. However, for a Mujahid, the main reason for obeying the rules of war is their piety. A minimal piety could cause more casualties and in fact even defeats, and that it cannot be made as an excuse on the Day of Reckoning.

Relying ourselves on Allah includes, amongst them, fulfilling every requirement that we can afford to meet, by doing our best to enable and not neglecting our efforts when we say "we are relying ourselves on Allah"

Part 1. General Security

Jihad in the Caucassus have been ongoing for years, however we continue to witness the lack of preparedness by the Mujahideen youths, the same thing as when those youths are neglecting the security practices given by the fighters who are more experienced. The military knowledge was written with the blood, and the blood of the Muslims are too precious to be shed because of our weak preparedness, our slipshod or stupidity.

We would like to present some methods of preparation for the striving of Jihad, based on the experience of the contemporary Mujahideen in the Northern Caucassus.

Firstly, it must be understood that Jihad in a region controlled by the enemies’ security bodies requires some extra safety measures on the part of the Mujahid, and also it requires an ability in carrying out disguise, which not only conceal the actions, but also the intentions. Specifically, a Muslim who had made a strong decision to participate in Jihad must keep his decision secretly, because all the security bodies of the kafir will always endeavor to prevent the Mujahideen from going out into the public eyes and cause the emergence of new Jihad centres, than having to deal with the outcomes later.

The main factors for the exposure of informations about [a Mujahid] are:

1. The exposure of the characters of the Mujahid itself.
2. The usage of wrong communication tools and using the wrong words.
3. The leakage of information through the families or close friends.

Let’s have a look at the factors in more detail.

1. The exposure of the characters of the Mujahid (either those who have the potential or those who are active) includes:

* Going to the masjid (it’s better to avoid the masjid at all, because a masjid is a place where the Muslims are observed and it becomes the easiest place to spy on them: everything could be observed, who communicates with who).

* Discussing about Jihad with those who do not believe (for example those who are not in the same path/ideology with them), despite they are being "masha Allah, a very good ikhwan".

* Outside appearance, for example the growing of beard, or even unshaven beards that are let to grow covering the surface of the chin, supposing it is not a norm or an inclination in that society.

Also the usage of (oral) expressions, attires and accessories (Casio watches, Arabic perfumes, miswak) which are associated with "the militants" or "the followers of the Wahhabi" according to the public opinion.

All these core issues had been observed frequently by the Mujahideen, a research was even done about the possibility of taking off the niqab by the wives of the Mujahids, as it is a factor that could cause exposure, but other people’s experiences or even other type of mistakes still do not give us a lesson. For example, after the failure in the attempt on the life of R. Kadyrov, he ordered to arrest all the youths who were with the characteristics of “having long hair and unshaven beards”, and investigate whether they have any connection with the militants, and the first one in a group of youths who was arrested was coincidentally a Mujahid

A lot of Mujahids are unthinking when taking photos. We must admit that photos and videos, especially those that are posted on the internet, are perfect sources for the kafir to find informations. An example is the story of a youth, the son of a policeman, who “jokingly” posed in front of a webcam talking about Jihad and held a firearm belonging to his father, and posted the video on the internet. It was not difficult for the security apparatus to track him down by using the number of the hand gun captured in the webcam.

The Mujahideen often take photos and even make [videotape] statements, this would throw them into the list of fugitives and with that, it would limit their chances of hiding their activities on the ground. However, we can say that the most important Mujahids are those who could accurately act on the ground, hitting the kafir and the murtadeen in the place where they don’t expect it. A Mujahid who is unknown to anybody, and those who do not raise suspicions, can collect more information and cause more casualties on the enemy’s side, compared to someone who are forced to be in hiding continuously and only cares about his safety.

The Top Jihad Media In Central Asia

As-Sahab Media Foundation

As-Sahab is the official media wing of Al Qaeda based in Afghanistan and Pakistan. This Media produces videos featuring talks/sermons by the seniors in Al Qaeda, such as Sheikh Usamah bin Ladin and Dr. Ayman al-Zawahiri. They also produce videos showing actions by the Al Qaeda Mujahideen. The leadership in As-Sahab media is commanded by Dr. Ayman al-Zawahiri and the mastermind of the

September 11 attack was Khalid Sheikh Muhammad. The important figures who always appeared in the As-Sahab media talks/sermons videos are Sheikh Abu Yahya al-Liby and Adam Yahya Gadahn a.k.a Brother Azzam al-Amriki ( Azzam from America).

Labayk Media Productions

Labayk Media is also one of the broadcasting medias for the messages of Al Qaeda and the Taliban. This media produces vidoes featuring interviews with the leaders of the Taliban and Al Qaeda, as well as various military operations of the Mujahideen along the Pakistani-Afghan borders. The notable figures presented in the Labayk media videos do not differ too much from the important Mujahideen figures featured in the video produced by As-Sahab. In July 2005, four high-class members of Al Qaeda managed to escape from the tightly secured American prison at the Baghram air base near Kabul, Afghanistan. Three months later on the 19th October 2005, one of those four members of Al Qaeda- Abu Nasir al-Qahtani, a Saudi, appeared in a video produced by Labayk Media Foundation to recount his experiences.

Islam Awazi Information Center

Islam Awazi is the official media wing belonging to the "Turkistan Islamic Party ", the Islamic fighter group which have members made of the Uighur Muslim ethnics, originally coming from the western province of China, Xinjiang. In July 2008 the TIP started to release videos through the Islam Awazi media. In this video, the TIP claimed the bus bombing in Shanghai and Kunming, and threatened to disturb the Beijing Olympics, "Commander Sayfullah" warned that "we will launch attacks on anything related to the Olympics including the main cities in China".

Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan Media

This media is the official media of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (Taliban), though it still seldom produces video. The kind of videos that they release are normally political statements. This media also issues the "Al Somood" magazine. The materials published (currently three editions had already been published) use dual languages ie. Arabic and English. The publication of this media also uses one of the forums on the internet owned by the Islamic Army in Iraq (IAI).

Jundullah Media

Jundullah Media is the official media wing owned by the Islamic Movement of Uzbekistan (IMU). The IMU had already been declared by America as an overseas terrorist organization. The IMU have participated in the attacks on the American and coalition forces in Afghanistan, and they planned to attacks the American diplomat facilities in Central Asia. In September 2008, Jundullah Media released a video about a Mujahid from Germany in Afghanistan, as well as a video featuring the statement by a Mujahid who carried out a shaheed bomb attack on the embassy of Denmark in Islamabad, Pakistan. It was mentioned in the video that "this attack wouldn’t be the last attack of its kind". The IMU (Islamic Movement of Uzbekistan) has members made of Mujahids and Mujahidahs who are ready to sacrifice their lives.

Ummat Studios

The Ummat Studios is a pro-Taliban organization media in Pakistan which produces videos calling for jihad and featuring military operations by the Taliban in Pakistan, as well as other operations in Afghanistan. The kind of videos released by the Ummat Studios are focused on the activities by the Taliban in Pakistan in the region of Waziristan. One of the videos ever released was about the local military training camps belonging to the Taliban. In May 2008, the Ummat Studios released a video entitled "Na Pak Fouj" which showed new members of the Taliban in a camp in Waziristan while singing nasheed, "Hey, you kafir both in the West and the East, we have planned something for you. We all must die, life is too short. Hey, you Oh Muslims, you must act now, we have been oppressed. Oh, Islamic forces, come here to conduct jihad…. Come here to conduct jihad."

Badr at-Tawheed Media

The Badr at-Tawheed is the official media wing of the Islamic Jihad Union (IJU) which is based in Uzbekistan. Formed in March 2002 in the Tribal Region of Pakistan. In 25th May 2005 America declared that this group was a part of the global terrorist groups. The IJU was responsible for the bombing of the American and Israeli embassies in the capital of Uzbekistan, Tashkent in July 2004. According to the official statement by the American Foreign Department, the Islamic Jihad Union is a dangerous threat to the American facilities and interests overseas.

Manba al-Jihad Media

This is a relatively new media or conveyor of Jihad medium. Manba al-Jihad which means "The Source of Jihad" had released some videos showing attacks by the Taliban on the coalition forces in the Southeastern region of Afghanistan for the year 2008 and 2009. The featured attacks included rocket launchings, detonation of bombs using remote controlled devices and actions of martyrdom operations. Manba al-Jihad had also released old videos featuring one of the Mujahideen commanders in the time of Jalaludin Haqqani. Jalaludin Haqqani and his son Sirajjudin Haqqani are now said to be somewhere in a remote area in Pakistan which borders with Waziristan. However, the true nature of connection between Manba al-Jihad Media and Taliban is unknown.

Barbaric AFP, Burnt Civilian Houses and Ate Dog In Front Of Masjid

MAGUINDANAO – The Armed Forces of the Philippnes (AFP) are reported to have increased its military operation against the civilian people of Moro since 17th April with the pretext of eradicating the MILF fighters.

The brutalities shown by the AFP kafir forces worsen every day, their acts are so disgraceful.

Last 28th April, four innocent Muslim civilians were reported to have been killed in the village of Shariff Aguak with their heads decapitated and their bodies torn to pieces due to unthinking and blind shootings. The actions of the AFP are so inhuman.

In the village of Datu Piang, the kafir forces butchered a dog and ate it in front of a masjid. These acts showed their insult towards Islam.

Burning the houses of the Muslim civilians until they were grazed to the ground and not leaving anything is a normal habit of the AFP kafir forces. Then, they would use the media to spread their propaganda that it was the MILF fighters who did it.

The report further continued that the houses that were not burnt would be made as their military bases.

In December last year, around 2000 units of houses were recorded to be burnt down by those barbaric forces.

Not to mention the air strikes launched by the AFP kafir forces in the villages inhabited by the Muslim civilians in the regions of Talayan, Guindulingan, Datu Piang, Datu Saudi, etc.

Yesterday, (1/5) starting at 8.30 in the morning till 17.00 hr, air strikes which dropped bombs and shells were launched in Barangays Gawang, Andavit, Tee, Barrio Muslim, and Datu Piang.

So low are the actions of the AFP kafir forces under the government of Arroyo, however they continued to carry out their propaganda in the media that tried to corner the Moro Muslims.

Leaders Of Jamaat Tabligh Criticized The Shari’ah Established Through Jihad

PAKISTAN – So unexpected, the higher leaderships of the Jamaat Tabligh had rebuked the establishment of the Shari’ah by means of weapons, militancy and jihad.

The leaders of the Jamaat are said to always avoid touching issues that could cause controversies in the public world, and they are also used to propagandize the inter-religious harmony, tolerancy, basic human rights, social justice and peace.

They, the leaders, spoke at the closing event for the three day assembly of the Jamaat, last Monday (27/4).

"The Shari’ah cannot be established by means of weapons," Haji Abdul Wahab, the leader of the Jamaat Tabligh, said in Pakistan.

The 90 year old man, who left his job as a judge in a court of India to join the Jamaat, stated the example shown by Rasulullah Muhammad saw. He said that Rasulullah had never used the power of weapons. Therefore, he SAW spread the words of Allah only through ways which were full of peace.

"The Muslims should do da’wah to spread peace, brotherhood, and tolerancy all over the world, including Israel. They must refuse to force faith and beliefs by means weapons as Islam is a religion of peace and conciliation," said another leader.

Maulana Mohammad Ahmed, an education specialist said that the Muslims should inspire the followers of other religions through morality and social conducts. Those who think that the Shari’ah could be forced through weapons are idiots, he said.

"We should extend our hands to anybody and guide them out from darkness. In the emergence of the Islamic religion, the people of the past normally buried their female children alive without any feelings of regrets. Remember… all mankind are Allah’s creation," Maulana Ahmed said.

The leaders of the Jamaat said that their camp does not agree with Jihad as way of raising kalimatullah and the implementation of the Islamic Shari’ah.

They have closed their eyes and ears. They should have questioned, the one that they distrust and the one that they criticize should be the government who claimed to be Muslims but are not establishing Islam. They are forgetting the fact that these Murtad governments are taking the kafir harbi as their Awliya’. And have they criticized the murtad government who are fighting the Mujahideen and assisting the crusaders in capturing and killing the Mujahideen, just as they have done in criticizing the Shari’ah established through jihad?

If only the Jamaat Tabligh taught jihad as jihad and not jihad as da’wah, then they would become the biggest jihad movement in today’s world. However, due to the hypocrisy (munafiq) of their leaders, they only become the biggest Qaa'ideen movement in the world. So shameful.

Abdullah, The Youngest Shaheed Bomber Candidate

This boy is now behind the iron bars in the most tightly secured prison. Abdullah, 11 years old, could still be able to laugh while telling about his story. Captured while carrying explosives , he became the youngest Shaheed bomber candidate in Afghanistan and now he is the youngest prisoner.

In an interview with the journalist, Bill Nelly, Abdullah told that he had mastered the use of weapons. He could easily strip, load and fire a Kalashnikov. When asked about his actual name, he simply said, "Abdullah". Abdullah is an orphan and he is not even an adolescent yet.

However, Abdullah has already studied the principles of Jihad in a madrasah. After reading Al Qur'an in the morning, he learnt to use the pistol and Kalashnikov in the afternoon, learnt about the foreigners who come to the Muslim lands and the prohibition regarding the killing of women and children.

Asked about how he came to be captured while carrying bombs, he said that at that time he was in an excursion with his cousin from his school in Peshawar, Pakistan. At that time he was walking with a few others crossing a mountain heading towards Afghanistan. He was asked to wear a big sized jacket which contained explosives in it.

After he was captured Abdullah was taken to the prison of the Intelligence Service in Kabul.
The journalist then asked: "how does it feel to become a bomber?"

Abdullah replied that "I know that I will be torn to pieces". However, he also knows the difference between suicide and the decree of Allah and a sacrifice. “You explode yourselves to kill the kafir who killed your brothers,” Abdullah said.

It is still unclear of what would happen to Abdullah, however, it was said that the government would send Abdullah back to Pakistan and return him to school.

Abdullah would have a few stories to be told to his friends regarding his journey that had caused him to be inside a prison, and Abdullah would begin his daily lessons again ie. learning to use his Kalashnikov, and ready to defend Islam. [muslimdaily.net]

Full Of Happiness In The Swat Valley

Covering her head with a long headscarf, a resident Duppat, Hajira Karim, 13, was busy answering the questions for his last exam at the Shara School in Mingora, the capital of Swat Valley.

"I am so happy that I can continue my study," Hajira said, as reported by islamonline after finishing her exam.

Schools were reopened on 16th February, a day after the implementation of the Shari’ah in the Swat Valley and some other districts in the tribal regions of Pakistan. Hundreds of girl schools were closed earlier due to fears for the consequences of the war between the Taliban Mujahideen and the government forces of Pakistan. It included the school where Hajira attends for her education. The Shara school was closed for two months.

"Two months feel like centuries for me," she remembered

"When I came and found out that the school had been reopened, my eyes were full of happy tears."

Sufi Mohammad, one of the members of the TNSM (Tehrik Nifaz-e- Shari'ah Mohammadi), announced the reopening of the girl schools in Swat, after the government could no longer afford to stop the Taliban movement in implementing the Shari’ah there.

There are around 2000 elementary and secondary schools, as well higher institutions in the Swat Valley, and around 800 of them are girl schools.

More than 200 school buildings had been destroyed due to being used as military bases by the Pakistani forces who were regularly attacked by the Taliban.

Swat, known as the Switzerland of Pakistan, became a silent witness to the war between the government forces of Pakistan and the Taliban Mujahideen who are struggling for the establishment of the Shari’ah.

Hajira told his mother that after a long time of absence from the school, she felt so happy to be able to continue her education and play with her friends at the school.

"My mother has never felt the experience of sitting down at the school chairs, thus she became so happy hearing that I could continue my education."

Hazrat Hussein, the principal of the Shara School which was built in 1997, said that the education is very much needed by the society in Swat, whether it be the male or female.

"For the last 10 to 15 years, the education facilities for the girls schools are growing. Now, the parents are thinking that the education for their female children is also an important matter," he said.

His school can accommodate around 360 students, 180 of them are girls.

Hajira, a young female student who aspires to be a doctor hopes that peace in her place would remain.

"No doubt, I have become a living witness for the war between the Taliban and the government forces," she ended. (IOL/arrahmah)
